Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."
"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."
It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.
The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."
"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."
Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.
In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.
You are making a rather rash presumption that the people who would vote for Hillary, or Landreau for that matter, have a lick of sense to begin with.
Hey Gator,
You did the right thing, why give your money to people who think you owe it to them. Remember, do not worry about being called a racist, for those who call you one are the real racist.
They don't sign your paycheck and or mine either. I do not think life will be too, bad on those Carnival Cruise ships with six or more months of free room, board, three nice hots and the amenities. Oh I forgot, that lucartive check from the government to ease the pain.
I am a survivor of Ivan and we took the full force of it. No looting, raping, murdering, crying or blaming the President.
Governor Riley said evac, and I stayed. Never again will I make that mistake in life.
Take care and "ya done good buying your wife that refrigerator.
" Look Up In The Sky, It's a Bird, It's A Plane, No It's Cryin Super Mary Landrieu the Punch Drunk Rep, Of La."
Democrat just another name for a communist,
NSNR-LR
Yes, I've been worried about that. We need to be especially vigilant now, even in the midst of crisis relief.
How amazing.....in the good Sen. tirade and total lack of self control, how is it she just couldn't find one fault with the fine Gov. or the esteemed foul mouthed mayor of NO. Could it possibly be because they and she are members of the Democratic Party? I for one am getting really fed up with the dim wits and media who are piling all this on the Pres. and completely giving a pass to the governor and mayor who should have been the first in line to show leadership.
That being said, this was such a monumental disaster they should be given some slack, but to blame the President for anything and everything is just stupidity. I hope voters remember who it is that's making these statements.
Doncha know it's killing them all those people going to Texas!
With emphasis on "worthless". We're so sorry that it's too late for you to bring home more bacon and make everything better, Mary.
The place is a toxic cesspool... I doubt anyone will be living there for a very long time. Perhaps they will take the historic homes and move them somewhere else and develop a new New Orleans... remember Love Canal???
What I figured. It was a moral cesspool before that. (or so I've heard) So why are so many having a cow about Hastert saying that New Orleans should not be rebuilt in the same place using Federal dollars. I totally agree with him on that. Why should our money go to build a city that much below sea level? It's foolhardy.
"Senator, what was the bill you sponsored to get federal funding for the levees?"
waiting
"..the ammendment you proposed for any of the spending bills?"
waiting
"..are those pumps your Daddy bought still in that warehouse?"
crickets
Deceitful, machiavellian, duplicitous, conceited, arrogant, base, cowardly.....geez ...can I at least say 'Ho'?
2 words Mary: CLUB GITMO
Consider myself a strong woman...but seeing these women politicians on tv -- govenor and landrieu doing a meltdown illustrates to me that certain women can't handle the job.
Will not vote for Hillary to be 'commander-in-chief' period.
Guess Russert on 'meet the press' demanded that Chertoff resign over this...Russert show is nothing than an arm of the DNC. If I were in government of the opposite party (not Democrat), wouldn't appear on his show.
Well, I guess that explains Castro's offer of aid in the form of doctors. And here I thought it was just because he realized that Bush abandoned the poor blacks. < /sarcasm >

Well said. I'm interested in any reply you might get.
It was pointed out yesterday that these female screech owls are a good preview of what will happen when/if "The Beast" is elected in '08.
Want to bet there won't be anyone in the Senate with the guts to call for censure of Landrieu? They'll all say that under the circumstances it was understandable that she resorted to hyperbole.
