Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."
"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."
It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.
The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."
"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."
Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.
In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.
I hope a protest group accumulates outside her house and demands an audience so they can criticize the local LE of New Orleans and maybe get Landrieu to throw a punch.
Thank you Mary Landrieu, and Nancy Pelosi for your positive contributions to your country.
When you could have shown your bigness, your heart, and your ability to rise above partisan difference you
came up lame.
President Bushes "photo ops" were with YOU and a host of other Democrats. He was trying to show a united front.
We all know that the criticism of NO cops is unfounded in many cases. Just misinformation.
They didn't all run away.
Two killed themselves, but....
What a couple of psychos.
PING
Post of the day!!! If not the month.
Don't forget the ones who went shopping for the 5-finger discounts. There are photos of them. IMO Landrieu can't see enough of those photos. ;)
Wonder how many of the deceased victims will be voting for her in the next election.
I don't get this document. Bush had already declared it a disaster area Friday while the hurricane was still out in the gulf (in addition to telling her to order a mandatory evac and asking to federalize the NG). That's what sets the FEMA money and assets in motion. Either this declaration is just a "formality" requirement of some sort for receiving the FEMA aid or beginning a federalization situation, or she was trying to create a perception that there had been no offer of assistance up to this point.
Are we sure it was the Fri before the storm. I think there is some thought that this is the fri after the storm.
The time is important and it is not clear.
Bush is very eloquent in ways some people don't understand...IMHO I heard him praise the mayor and governor of MS because of their GREAT leadership and abilities to gain control and deal with the disaster given them. In the next cut when asked about the NOLA situation.....he called the situation "unacceptable". Nor did he give any praise to their leaders. He said he was "working" with them.
My Grandpa was the same way.......You'd have to go back and THINK about what he just said ......to realize you just got your butt kicked on the "intellectual" level. Make no mistake... he's keeping score....in a Southern gentleman sort-of-way. *smile* The LA authorities need to be shaking in their boots. Walk softly.......carry a big stick.
How DUmperish of her
Yes, you are right.
It is now up to 8 clear facts that point to the locals as the root cause.
THX for adding that to the list. I am going to theother thread and add your fact.
THX.
And the scary part is that she gets to vote for the next Supreme Court justice.
You are aware of the nepotism, I hope. Her father was NO mayor, and her brother is Lt Gov. So, she takes things personaslly. It's all in the family.
what a whore.
This is why they refer to Louisiana as a "third world country"...with "third world leaders" at the helm. (I can say this because I lived there for 7 years and witnessed the incompetence.)
Ankle-biter AND butt kisser! All depends on the kind of day she's having.
