You are on the right track. A storm is brewing, and this one is headed for the local leadership in New Orleans. Whiplash is a violent thing. I don't think Nagin is going to survive when the investigations are completed.

>So instead of screaming "Why doesn't Bush fight back" Conservatives BETTER be asking themselves WHAT AM I doing to fight back this assaults. Not enough to just whine about OUR side. People actually have to help us ATTACK the other side.<

Amen. I've got a copy of the posse comitatus act printed out, and I'm trying to archive every thing I can get my hands on, about how our local governmental bodies are supposed to take the lead in disaster efforts.

In the coming days, people are going to be trying to pin this on the Bush administration, and there is nothing like having the facts at hand to refute their fallacies.

Thanks for that photo, snugs. Senator/Dr. Frist was working at the scenes of the tsunami as well. He takes his oaths seriously.

I noticed that Broussard had time to trash Bush and "thank Gov. Blanco for her hard work" before he broke down. Political ass-covering to the end.

More than just that - it's pure scripted Dim political theater - get in your shots at Bush, defend your own incompetent hack, and then run away weeping before any rebuttal has a chance, and so that rebuttal looks like the mean old Republicans politicizing the tragedy by picking on the poor overwhelmed local official. It's in the playbook - all they had to do is find the right guy to pull off the acting job.

The real scandal is that Russert knows what's going on here but doesn't call it for the play it really is. Hell, he probably has a copy of the script!

Shep is fine... some are just a bit miffed at him lately becuase he jumped on the 'blame the feds' bandwagon a bit too early and a bit to harsh in some opinions.

Not really his fault the MSM pushed so far and hard on it and he kinda' got some of the stink on him.

Anyway I'm with you.

Russert is in full-fledged emotional melt-down.

I have never seen him so emotional and ranting about an issue. Now Russert blaming him for no buses on Friday, Saturday, Sunday before the storm. Chertoff trying to get a word in edgewise - does get to say this is the responsibility of the locals to evacuate and . Russert raised the question and put it outfront; if they want the truth heard they best listen to the facts and not blame the Feds for NO city and LA state inaction before the storm.

When these hearings are held---in order to "hang" this on Bush...

I just pray that people pay close attention to what has happened all of these years (not just Bush's Administration) to the funds earmarked for strengthening the levees...

THAT is where the real criminality starts...and I betcha when we get closer to the time for the hearings, some panic is gonna set in all around Louisiana politics...

Russert was unmasked today. He sits on his fat ass in New York City and read DU and spouts that same tripe. Today I lost any respect I had for him. His hate for Bush is now palpable. HAS A PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES EVER ORDERED THE EVACUATION OF A CITY OR COUNTY? DOES HE EVEN HAVE THE CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY TO DO SO? Isn't this why we elect mayors and govenors?

August 23, 2005

WASHINGTON -- New Orleans uses its Community Development Block Grants for everything from day care to housing rehab to treatment of AIDS patients. Jefferson Parish allots its CDBG funds to improve playgrounds, upgrade drainage facilities and rehabilitate deteriorating housing.

It's the flexibility of the $4.7-billion-a-year federal program that has long made it a favorite of mayors and parish presidents. That would explain the uproar when President Bush proposed major changes last month.

Bush said he wants to consolidate a retargeted grant program, geared to the poorest communities, along with 17 other development programs into a new $3.7 billion program called Strengthening America's Communities.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard, both Democrats, say they're skeptical a less expensive program, incorporating other programs, can provide the resources their communities have counted on since President Ford signed the block grant law 31 years ago.

"The CDBG has been the most successful program getting federal dollars to needy people that I've ever seen in my 30 years of office," Broussard said. "So many of our neighborhoods benefit. We've improved streets, improved infrastructure, done drainage and sewage work, revitalized homes and raised homes to livable standards, and built affordable housing. We can't afford to lose it."

And the federal relief assistance apparatus didn't expect the Lousiana relief assistance apparatus to snipe at it - but it is.

Yeah, I was more then ready to cut Blanco and Nagel slack. I mean my reaction was "WHAT THE....What kind of people SHOOT at rescue helicopters?" But since the Dems decided to politize this we have NO choice but to fight. If you listen and read the Leftist they REALLY think they can use this to discredit the whole Conservative idea of Limited Goverment. This is not just an attack on Bush, this is an attack on the last 25 years from Reagan to now. The want to make everything to Feds fault to jusitfy their demands for more Fed $$$ to FIX everything.

>>He's thinking maybe they need to go "somewhere like Las Vegas that has lots of hotel rooms." FEMA isn't sure they can pay for that, so he told them, "Screw it, I'll pay for it and find the money somewhere."

Sheesh.<<

I can't even believe the stupidity of the Lousiana elected officials. I've never even imagined such stupidity!!

You seem to have learned nothing. You don't toss gas on a fire. You starve it of oxygen. Conservatives and Republicans need to just SHUT UP, and let the Democrats twist in the wind. Let their quotes hang in the air like poison. Politics is not about getting your licks in. If Politics were a boxing match, the Democrats would always be ahead on points, but knocked out in the late rounds when it counts. Let them blame everything on Bush, just let them. It wont matter. America saw those looters, and they know who HASNT said a word about them. They wont give those people control of this country.

The lam-o Broussard will be up for an Emmy for that show! Michael Moore will make the presentation.
