Those parked school buses had wheels and should have be rollin', rollin', rollin' outa there.
The reason why Sandra Day O'Conner is leaving is to take care of her dying husband. So she should just abandon him so that Chuck Schumer doesn't have to lose a political fight? The Dems have no shame, and are grasping at straws.
Anyway, I'm off to Church!
Is this on FOX? If so, can't wait to see it.
The answer to the question seems to be that they had Aaron Broussard, President of Jefferson Parish, stand in instead.
And he started out blasting the administration and President for not sending any help, and before he could be asked any questions melted down into an emotional wreck, blubbering about the someone's mother who didn't get rescued. With that Russert said, "I'll let you compose yourself, I know this has been emotional." Russert never went back to him.
Mr. Broussard never addressed what he tried to do to rescue the poor woman.
I mentioned the same thing to my husband. He said Blanco was on Larry King last night CRYING & thanking Larry for being so kind to her because NO ONE ELSE was these days. I guess she decided to send that idiot on MEET THE PRESS instead to have a breakdown instead of her.
I understood him to mean the latter, which is why I thought he seemed clueless.
This has to be seen to be believed. So the state fiddles while Rome, er, New Orleans, drowns, and the MSM is doing a full court press to blame the Bush Administration.
Not one Freeper will be surprised.
I'm hearing Dodd arguing for O'Connor staying on FNC (which just came on here a few minutes ago).
Now THAT's FUNNY! :)
Good. I read last night that Kennedy wanted a delay in the Roberts hearing (scheduled to start Tuesday, 9/6) because of the hurricane.
That's just an excuse. And I'm glad the president wants to move forward.
"Lord knows I admire and love this administration...but, they seemed to have long ago forgotten that they live and work in a political arena."
I agree. I think it's great they try to take the high road, but if they're going to do that then they need some Pubbies out there speaking for them. Not RINOs like Jindal and Vitter (have been disappointed in both of them).
Earlier in the week, I was wondering why Sid B (Hitlery's good buddy) crawled out of the woodwork all of a sudden. With the NY Slimes and some of the other LSM coming out against the Prez from the get-go (and not questioning the leadership or lack thereof in LA and not putting blame where blame should be - on the Mayor of NO and the Gov of LA), and it hit me then.
In essence, this is almost like another 9/11 (over a much larger area) and Pres Bush became EXTREMELY popular after 9/11 - his ratings were through the roof and stayed there for awhile. The DIMS don't want that to happen again, so they're starting earlier to try to tear him down and point fingers. They're hoping he'll lose popularity, therefore, the Pubbies will, too and they can get power back in the election next year. The finger pointing by the Dims has become worse as the week as rolled on - including race-baiting by the Black CaaCaa. Tim was disgusting today and I suspect Wolfie and the rest will be as bad. Surely Rove, et al must realize that they need to get out there now and do some damage control.
Practically simultaneously, FOXNEWS, MSNBC, NBC, and CNN were discussing what to do about the healthy people who are still refusing to leave their New Orleans houses. Most were showing scenes of people in boats and helicopters, pleading with people to get out. I was flipping madly, and very surprised all were on this same subject. The left simply will not be able to blame Bush for this segment of New Orleans population.

This is not in response to your question per se.
Yesterday I wrote an article for Blogcritics about Katrina
It doesn't matter what I said. Below is a comment response to that post. Just so you know the unreasonable people we're up against.
No, no the local authorities were not the problem. And neither was it the President nor his "Jew" homeland director. The problem that caused all of the breakdowns in communication, and all the ensuing chaos, are people like yourselves, for voting a party into power like the conservatives, and the blame falls also on people like myself, for allowing ignorance and prejudice such as your own to taint logical discourse.
When I read verbiage like the above I go into a state of total despair.
Regarding the Mary Landrieu/George Stephanopolis helicopter trip:
Mary freaked out when they came upon a single excavator shovel that was being used to repair one of the levees. From what I could see the shovel was all the way out on the repair, with a queue of dump trucks lined up to provide it with more repair material, but NO room for additional shovels.
Yet Landrieu used the example of that one shovel (again, operating in a location where deploying a second shovel would have been physically impossible) to rake the Bush Administration's response.
Thanks to jackbill for the e-mail information for the Washington Post reporters.

I don't think that the President is going to accommodate him. We all know why Dodd wants a delay. They need time to get their "oppose anyone he nominates" act together. I know this...if Dodd says do one thing, immediately do just the opposite.
