If it weren't for President Bush, there would have been no evacuation orders at all. The governor and mayor dropped the ball.

The Dallas Morning News wouldn't know leadership even if someone typed them a memo on an IBM selectric.

I'm amazed at how they just make stuff up and don't even attempt to hide it anymore.

Yep, but they have their campaign issue for 06 and 08. It's going to be a very brutal election season.

The Black Caucus better start looking at the incompetent governor and mayor. the President couldn't just start ordering troops into her state without her permission. Why isn't the black Caucus leadership in New Orleans establishing order and helping out? I guess it's much easier to be on television bashing the President.

They think that images of looters and stories of kids being raped to death will hurt conservatives?

Ah NO Because the truth WILL get out even if the Dinosaurs will NOT report it. The Hate Bush Dinosaur media still does NOT understand that the President has VERY limited authority here. Bush CANNOT order the NG into Louisiana, Gov Blanco has to do it.

Democratic critics have charged that Bush's determination to curb spending and implement sweeping tax cuts siphoned funds for levee improvements in New Orleans, among other projects.

...AN OUTRIGHT LIE!!!!!!
administrations going back 50 years have never even giving a second thought about levee's
..another blame Bush...don't blame the incompetent mayor or totally inept democratic governor

Well, hell. If President Bush is supposed to run everything in New Orleans, why the hell do they need a mayor?

Is he responsible for everything that goes wrong in Louisiana as well? If so, why do they even have a Governor. Or Senators. Or Representatives.

You know what, Mr. Hillman. Go screw yourself.

When all is said and done, I think it will be quite apparent how the local government collapsed. I've heard the mayor, have read his statements, but I haven't seen him down at the Superdome and the Convention Center. I just saw the Chief of Police at the Convention Center and two separate clips showed him losing his mind. A complete vacuum of leadership exists.

Began presidency in a recession.
Previous administration's lax terrorist policy prevented interception of 9/11 terrorist attack.
9/11 attack has huge impact on US economy.
Freedom restored to Afghanistan
Libya gives up WMD
Syrian troops leave Lebanon
Egypt moves toward real elections.
Terror-supporting despot removed in Iraq and democratic government initiated there.
US economy is strongest in the world, with unemployment at 4.9% during a time of low inflation.
Hurricane devastates New Orleans.
Democrat mayor and governor fail to handle Katrina disaster.
Bush steps in and kick-starts massive relief effort.

This legacy compares favorably to Bill Clinton's, IMO.

Oh yes,and if Bush had taken over the whole situation Monday night he would be accused of being a cowboy, not respecting the state leaders and trying to score political points by going over the heads of the governor and mayor.
Sheesh.

I am not much of a fan of Bush, but he gets a pass from me on this one. This was not a federal issue until the inteptitude of the local and state authorities required it to be.

Even the governor admitted that when they called for mandatory evacuation it was at Bush's insistance.

When this all blows over, Bush will probably have very little of this stuck on him. Remember, these are the post Dan Rather days. The MSM cannot control the public mind any more...

And of course Mr Hillman is one of the few gutless wonders who does NOT have an email address at his paper so the utter baseless stupidity of his remarks can Not be pointed out to him. Just another Dinosaur lurching towards the tar pit of irrelevancy

Hurricane relief efforts went well in Florida last year, and I don't hear complaints out of Alabama and Mississippi. What is different about New Orleans? That should be the story. Won't be, but it should be.

Only someone doing a lot of recreational drugs would try to blame President Bush for this while completely ignoring the incompetence demonstrated by a DemocRAT Governor and mayor. What a moron. Don't worry 'bout it Bobby. President Bush's legacy will be just fine.
