Shep showed a dead body along the freeway. How low can you go to grandstand? Things are bad in N.O., but he didn't have to show it.

I think Shep is doing excellent reporting. It is very difficult for each of us to watch this kind of suffering and devastation, especially right here at home, but we need to face reality here.
I don't think that telling and showing the truth is "grandstanding" It is truth telling.
Showing the devastation and the horror in a realistic way is what good TV reporting is all about.
The comparison to a third world country at war is very apt.

She reminds me of Edith Bunker from All in the Family when she speaks -- absolutely clueless. Then I found out Sen Landrieu's brother is her Lt Governor. Less than impressed with any of her staff including the woman who heads the Highway Patrol. Cannot get a straight answer out of the group.
lol.
Amazing to watch it unfold this week. I know people in NY and Cali. saying "those really aren't part of the U.S....they are like 3rd world states that people forget even exist"
Yep. While being referred to as refugees correctly recognizes their status, they are Americans. It's disgusting that there are people who view their fellow Americans with disdain because of their economic status, political disposition or any other variety of discriminating factors. As for the leadership of Louisiana, there doesn't appear to be any. It's almost as if Louisiana was counting on the people left behind to perish, so that a massive rescue effort wouldn't be needed. If the state of Texas can be well on it's way to have the Astrodome set up with even hot showers for up to 25000 people, the Superdome could have had a bare minimum of water for drinking. They could have been sending supplies over while haggling with lawyers on Saturday evening. The fact is the city of New Orleans and state of Louisiana did nothing until the absolute last minutes to provide a shelter that wasn't even sure to hold up.
One of the biggest stories people are concerned and even outraged about is the looting. The worst thing about allowing the looting is the chaos that is allowed to ensue. But, even here, we have people fretting over the items stolen that have no survival value. Those items pretty much have no value period since most have water damage and would be considered a loss. Looting should be stopped to ensure law and order, not to protect some meaningless material items.
I saw that with Shep and the five day old baby and mother, too. Good he did that....baby had a fever, he said.
"It's real. A lot of what's on the cable news channels right now is old footage taken days ago"
I think Shep Smith and FOX are one of the only people who remained at the hurricane's center, and reported it live on the ground.
Bravo to Shep for great courage and great reporting.
Exactly!
Hmm I don't know if you're nuts. I'm a female. I find him strangely unattractive. But I'm in the minority (and it's not the reason I don't like his reporting).

Pessimism is not needed from government leaders. What a loser.
It's not like a third world country... it's like Los Angeles in a bad summer... or Detroit winning the NBA Championship... Johannesburg... or the Fall of Baghdad...
That's what it most reminds me of. Baghdad. 2003.
By the way ...... lousy speller.
BTW, I don't care if Shep is gay or not -- where did you get the idea that anyone said that Shep was gay. Can't read either, eh?
;-)
Over here....
I think he's kinda cute too.
That's it -- the real problem with looting is it turns into rioting, and rioting turns into violence and terrorism against those unable to protect themselves.
Yeh, his eyes are pretty far apart.... sort of looks like an alien. But, he's growing up on the job in New Orleans, imo.
Yeah well, you know what they say about taste! ;)

...... except for the water.
I dodn't have cable, so I seldom watch Smith. Not paricularly impressed by what I have seen, but what 's with these people!
OK, Jerry (Seinfeld).
