Ten Year Old Arrested for Giving Food to Terri Schiavo Apologizes

Joshua's arrestTAMPA BAY, August 31, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ten year-old Joshua Heldreth, the eldest of eight children, was arrested on Good Friday of this year for trespassing while attempting to bring a drink of water to Miss Terri Schaivo.  Days later Schiavo died of intentional dehydration.  In court Joshua pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 hours of community service and ordered to write an apology for his actions.

The boy whose arrest photo was splashed on front pages of newspapers across the nation wrote in his apology letter, "I was arrested on Good Friday for trespassing on the hospice center's property . . . Not giving Mrs. Shiavo (sic) food or water was wrong.  The reason I had to go on your property was because Jesus would do the same thing.  It made me sad that she was so thirsty and it made Jesus sad too.  I knew she would die without water and I am called by Jesus to be a defender of the defenceless.  So I had to go on your property to try to bring her a drink."

Joshua added, "I am sorry that you didn't like that and wouldn't allow me to help save her life and one day you will have to tell God why.  I won't be able to help you then like I tried to help her. I will pray for you every day . . ."

LifeSiteNews.com caught up with Joshua's father Scott Heldreth today.  Scott told LifeSiteNews.com he is very proud of his son.  "My son has amazed me through this whole thing," said Heldreth.  The proud father said it was his son's own initiative to attempt to give the starving woman a glass of water, and despite the warning of his parents that he'd be arrested, the boy insisted.  "He was the one who begged us to go down, because he wanted to give her a glass of water . . . We explained that police will never let you help . . . you'll be arrested, but he went anyways."

Pro-life leader Rev. Flip Benham of Operation Save America told LifeSiteNews.com that the whole pro-life movement shares Heldreth's pride in his son.  Benham recalls the reaction of Heldreth on Good Friday as he watched his son being arrested: "When that all took place Scott was weeping, this father was weeping tears of joy seeing his son not only talk the Christian talk but walk the walk."

While the apology letter has been submitted, Heldreth told LifeSiteNews.com he's not completely sure it will be accepted.

It is appalling that Judge Greer is still judge in Pinellas County.

Do you have a child???? From my experience, you don't manipulate a child to do something he doesn't want to do. He might go along for the ride or the protest, but to take an active stand comes from inside the child. The child may take a position that looks wholly devised by the parent, or it might run wholly counter to the parent. Right or wrong, the child, such as this 10-year old is totally capable of reasoning based on the facts/feelings at hand and coming to his own conclusion. That being said, I do believe that a child should be protected from danger, including being arrested for whatever reason. A child should not have to worry about things like the death of Terri Schiavo. That will all come soon enough. The question is does anyone care enough as an adult to get the law changed in Florida and elsewhere to prevent this from happening again.

"I am not going to bat for him. I am articulating that the particular brand of obsession that you and others have for this case is effort wasted. She is gone. The fight is over. Intelligent people have moved on."

There are other Terris out there, and bringing the truth out will help them.

As Terri's family said: "Never again."

As Terri's family said: "Never again."

Has happened every day since...in all the States. The GOP has never recovered from the dirt eating debacle that occurred in Washington from Frist and Delay and yes, Bush...two of whom have withdrawn Nutrition and Hydration from relatives of theirs who were deemed "hopeless" and the other who signed a Texas Law allowing tubes withdrawn even against a mothers will. The party was effectively split by the religious zealot wing of conservatism. Jeb had the wrong peoples ear because he was not listening to his constituents. And I don't expect less from pandering politicians in Washington. Constitutional and Fiscal conservatives owe the GOP nothing.

This case did nothing but hurt the pro life movement and bring out the fringe nutcases like Randal Terry and Jesse Jackson. What a farce ignorant people can create.

Intelligent people have moved on.

I see you are still here.

So people who respond with emotional knee jerk reactions encouraged by MoveOn.org are intelligent and those who react with reasoned strong medicine like Republic are glossed over and ignored.

If I were to wish all of us to MoveOn, I think I would not keep bumping the thread so the whole world can be reminded again and again of my unconvincing arguments compared to hard truths.

It is nice of MoveOn, though, to keep bumping for us although his efforts bring the opposite result he seeks. Laid side by side like this, the contrast between the liberal mantras and the truth is a marvel to behold.

I do not support nor have any connection to moveon.org. For you to say so is very petty.

First thanks for the bump.

Do not put words in my mouth. Reread what I said.

You use "move on" with nearly every post you make. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, etc. maybe it is a duck. MoveOn.org is an entity dedicated to the thinking you illustrate over and over.

If you do not like the comparison, quit using the "move on" bit. Meanwhile I am fascinated reading your posts.

I notice you are stuck firmly to this topic and not about to "move on" yourself while urging us to do so.

Why are you here continuing to post if so anxious to "move on"?

I don't know of Fred Taylor. Best thing to do is to see if he's on Judge Greer's campaign donor list which many of us have already downloaded to our hard drives. Fred Taylor is lvg GOP to return back to the Dems of North Pinellas.

Remember I said the Pinellas GOP was in some trouble? It is fracturing for a variety of reasons. I don't think they should hang up on their republican constituents for one thing. 727-539-6009.

They are pro-Greer and that is the GOP of Pinellas' only position.

Greer's Own Party

What day did the Vigil of October 2003 start? I'm getting out my photos from then. Was it October 13th, 14th or 15th of 2003?

The death mongers figured that Terri would be deceased by October 31st. They finally got her on March 31, 2005. Maybe they hastened the March 31st, 2005 date of death. I'm not into numerology but the new agers who think they are themselves gods might be.

I would never go to a new age, ritualistic, thrill seeking, money grubbing attorney "who can't make a living unless somebody's dying."

Michael LIED visit www.northcountrygazette.org.

DOH is investigating HINO's nursing license. (it may be a sham invsestigation - we won't know for sure until they clear him. lol).

Florida needs fixing.

Terri was doing fine considering that her therapy was cut off as soon as HINO got the money and it was secreted away and the felon and deathknell took their cut.

Terri was robbed and murdered. People need to realize both assaults on her.

www.hospicepatients.org and www.judgegeorgegreer.com

When Terri's dad told her that the feeding tube was coming out but that "they'd get her a milkshake soon", Terri started crying. This was in March of 2005. Terri KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON. The euthanazi's had tried twice before to murder her. Imagine not being able to save yourself because you could not walk.

Thank the men and women in black and our excellent Florida Legislature for killing dear Terri. (many others aided and abetted - too numerous to mention). This is the scandal of the century, imo.

Do you realize that there is a difference between removing nourishment from a dying person, or murdering a person who is NOT dying by dehydrating and starving them to death?

Terri was healthy; Terri was not dying.

And left wing, so called know-it-alls sure like to stereotype everyone else. If they weren't in the midst of Terri's Fight, they have no idea what went on and what's still going on. They are clueless and they want us to move on because Terri's threads for justice are still attracting A LOT OF VIEWS. This thread is over 11,000 right now.

They can't stand the idea that so many Americans know that starving and dehydrating innocent Americans by MEN AND WOMEN IN BLACK is unacceptable and they are high crimes.

HIGH CRIMES. Judge Greer belongs in PRISON. Judge Whittemore belongs in PRISON. (separate prisons so they cannot talk about the good old days when they could just go around KILLING AMERICANS before they were finally caught and prosecuted!).

I explained earlier that I am continuing to post because others are doing the same. I also said that I do not support or am I affiliated with Moveon.org. Merely using that phrase doesn't mean that I am connected to them. I feel that I have explained my position, but since others are still taking issue, here we go again:

1. Terri Schiavo suffered damage to her brain.

2. It was determined by doctors that she had no awareness of her own existence, i.e., there was no brain activity.

3. Her husband claimed that she had stated that she wouldn't want to live that way. By the same token, her family disagreed.

4. A legal battle lasting several years took place.

5. A judge ruled in favor of her husband, who was her legal guardian.

6. She was allowed to die.

7. There are many people who feel strongly on this issue either for or against the judge's decision.

8. Regardless of how you feel, nothing will bring this woman back. She was not murdered. She was unable to survive without extreme life-saving measures, which her husband claims were against her wishes.

9. Without her wishes written down, none of you or me can determine what her wishes may or may not have actually been.

10. None of us were party to the court case.

11. Given that we cannot know what her wishes were, it is presumptuous of us to try to guess what they were.

12. Therefore, we should accept the court's decision, and let this woman rest in peace.

This is how I see this case. if you folks want to continue to waste time and effort bitching about Judge Greer, go right ahead. The case is settled in my mind. I will comment on your replies if I feel the need to. This is a public forum. I am sure that any of you will feel free to comment on my opinions. I am curious if any of you can give any moral justification for keeping a brain-dead woman alive, when her legal guardian, who is in a better position than any of us to determine her wishes says that she wouldn't have wanted that.

The ten year old stepped on a sidewalk which is a worse offense then starving a woman to death nearby. That's one wicked sidewalk in front of hospice woodside a/k/a auchswitz woodside.

left to right: FLA AG CRIST, JUDGE JAMES WHITTEMORE, FLA SENATOR JIM KING (hospice hall of famer), HOWARD DEAN, nazi type cop who ran the checkpoint, Judge Greer, Terri's VAN TO THE M.E.

and Sheriff Everett Rice belongs in the photo too.
