President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

JohnRob has this site designed so that threads don't max out until reaching 65,000 + posts !
If a thread seems to be slowing for you, it's most likely because of large graphics (~>50k) having been thoughtlessly posted on a particular page, or you have the number of posts per page set in your preferences higher than your pc's resources can handle swiftly.

Mine are lost amid the bookmark clutter somewhere...
Innundate CNN with emails; I sure have (even though I'm not watching them) on a regular basis. I click over for a few minutes only to be disgusted and click away. It won't really make a difference to them, but it will make you feel a lot better. They could care less what the public thinks of them, as is evidenced by the declining ratings.
I pray that child is too young to remember this horrible experience.
State Police NET-
43 DSS staff at Hyatt needed for over 1,000 people that have been dumped at the Airport...
It is on CNN live - Turn to CNN - Camera is on a helicopter - no audio - yuo can see people being passed to the front - they are out cold or have died.
>>Well, well, Ron Reagan on MSNBC saying today brought good news, help and food.
HOLY CRAP.<<
Check your hearing...you may have misplaced it along with your key... LOL
Now broadcast as an Action Item...
People need Medical Attention at the Airport...
It breaks my heart to see all of the suffering. However it seems that the people in NO ignored even the most basic instructions they were given if they chose/had to stay. I heard people on the weather channel say over and over
to have food and water and a change of clothes for several days. Very few seem to have done even the minimum to survive for just a brief period of time until help could be mobilized. How hard would it have been to get canned goods, cereal bars and water and have it on hand? They were saying for days it was heading to NO.
Very sad, but am sick of hearing the blame directed at W. They ought to be pointing fingers at the sorry officials in La if they're pointed anywhere.
I loathe and despise the MSM.
Thank goodness for the internet.
I never thought I would see fellow Americans doing the types of things they are doing in NO during a huge disaster of this magnitude. I'm glad we are gun(s) owners.
sent a blistering note to him, too!
It was a matching funds grant, and LA refused to pay its %.
I hope so. There comes a point when the situation has to start improving.
Ron Reagan speaking sense and Clinton slamming a CNN reporter for bashing Bush meanwhile some "conservatives" freaking out, trying to make this about immigration and taking shots at the Pres? Good grief.
Brilliant! They are showing the kids dvds at the astrodome. What a relief for the parents and the kids. A brief reprise.
looks like the cavalry has arrived. Good news.
There must have been a glitch over at MessNBC. Blitzer's back to reporting on New Orleans with the same hype-the-violence angle that they've been doing on Iraq for two years.
I would have liked to have seen Nagin out on the streets before they flooded instead of in media studios or standing on a platform with other politicians. Where is he now anyway? These are his peeeeeeeeple. If my team is in trouble, I wanna see the captain of that team.
Ain't America great? People are dying and we are arguing about two mayors. Let's call this one quits - OK?.
It is a camera on a helicopter up in the air - no audio - turn to CNN and see for yourself - CNN is not near these people
