thx!
I think lots of FReeper's are loving this...after all they want to shoot all the looters without a trial or jury. They probably think they are 'looters who had it comin'...wait and see. Death by bullets or fire, it makes no difference to them, I'm sure.
Shep also said there was a fear of this happening from people trying to cook remaining food on porches, etc.
I know it hurts....really hurts....but we have to focus.....big picture...nothing to be done for them but others still have a chance.
I saw that Planned Parenthood is donating free morning-after pills.
Because nobody can get to the control valves?
Because no one can get to where it needs to be turned off?
I know
The middle east muslims are probably laughing with glee..we are showing them how our liberal, immoral ways end up. We are fueling their fire.
And the gas wasn't turned off before the storm because.....
This is just terrible to witness. All of it. I keep waiting for it to get better (as a whole) but it keeps getting worse.
Continuing to send PRAYERS!
The creeps stole your radio? Sorry to hear that. :(
Yes.
I don't love this. I don't want this.
But threatening lethal force against looters was the only thing that kept them at bay after Andrew. And NOLA is much worse, being an urban setting where the buildings are still largely intact and many homes and businesses have valuables accessible to looters.
I have been asking that question all morning...imagine..say..Mayor Guiliani in this circumstance.
Despite the poor communications on the ground- he should be on a radio giving support, updates and FACTS at least 2x a day..as in ...leadership.
Earlier:
from WWL:
" But not all responses were positive. Islamic extremists are rejoicing. Internet chatter referred to the storm as "Private" Katrina, and said it had joined the global holy war against the U.S."
A man who was stuck because he was afraid to go to the garage that has his car...called into a program..said under normal circumstances fire is a huge worry. I think because the structures are so close together and many are wood.
Not sure if there were other issues as it relates to fire hyrdrants or whatever.
I suppose this kind of loss of law and order could happen anywhere. But I'm beginning to think that the south is really different from other parts of the country.
>>And the gas wasn't turned off before the storm because.....<<
Who cares....it's too late now.
