"I like the idea of actually paying lodging for a particularly needy family..or providing gift cards."
That will be appeasing and caving in to the enemy forces. You fight fire with fire, not with handouts and fear.
Those who are most fearful, proceed to make the first donations. I'm not gonna come to the aid of these thugs.

BUT.... I was talking about other refugees, the innocents. I don't think all of New Orleans was populated by thugs, but it's the thugs making the news.

This Governor is very weak incompetent.

I think I'm gonna ask her to post that info as a vanity so more people will see it. Good idea! It would be worthy of its own thread.

I was thinking this today myself. A Governor has the right to call up the NG , yet all I hear is how dare Bush not have them there, blah, blah, blah.

"Troops should bring extra underwear"
There was some national guard guy saying it was easier being in Iraq. He said it was dangerous - but they had protection. And they had water, mre's, communication and a plan. Here we don't have any of that - especially the plan. (or something to that effect)

We're multitasking right now," said New Orleans Police Capt. Marlon Defillo . . .Uh, the time for multi-tasking was last Friday.

She, as Governor, has the authority and power to use the LA NG to quickly supress and put down this lawlessness...and she is not doing it. Instead, she is wringing her hands, making excuses and asking the President to. I guess believing in yourself doesn't cut it here. Maybe she should get down on her knees and pray to a higher power. But noticing a God in this case would actually be worse and more politically incorrect than watching thousands suffer and die. At least in all of this liberalism and violence will overcome absolute morals and the keeping of law and order.
