President Bush to address the nation on Hurricane Katrina...has flown by the damage on Air Force One on way back to D.C.
That's all right. Daybreak is my nickname. :o)
And right now I think daybreak coming can't get here too soon.
Good one, CMom. I don't envy the President in his job. He'll never please everyone, no matter who he is, not even on our forum. I can't imagine the weight of it on him. Clearly he is guided by One more powerful than he...much to the libs' horror.
I'm doing great, Christian. Although I'll be glad when the cooler weather gets here :-)
How are you lately?
GW is a meat and potatoes guy, so that's what you get when the going is tough.
Gotta go watch 'The Roundtable'......is it round?
;-)
I agree. This has been eating at me all day. When they showed a little boy in his mother's arms who was clearly not in good shape it broke my heart. The FOX crew through down a bag of ice to them to help.
I realize that sooooo many people need help, but many of those people have infants and small children. It would be a shame if they survived the hurricaine, only to die from heat, dehydration, etc.
You're familiar with the lesson of the boy and the wolf story I take it?
Samaritan's Purse Charity, headed by Franklin Graham
Helping Victims of Hurricane Katrina
Disaster Relief Units in Alabama to Help Devastated Communities Recover From the Huge Storm
Two Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Units have reached Alabama and are assessing where best to work to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. The units initially will be based in Mobile and work westward into Mississippi and Louisiana as conditions permit.Click here to support the hurricane relief work of Samaritans Purse.Samaritans Purse is working with local churches and mobilizing hundreds of volunteer workers to help repair as many homes as possible. Two tractor-trailers loaded with emergency supplies and equipment will provide crews with chain saws and heavy equipment to remove fallen trees from houses and streets. Other teams will cover damaged roofs with weatherproof plastic. Generators can provide emergency electricity for the sick or elderly. Flooded houses can be pumped dry and cleaned of debris.

Gasoline prices in NorthEast ILLINOIS just went over $3...BIG TIME...price increase has been OVER .80 in two days.
Reg-3.30
MID-3.40
HI-3.50
Give or take two or three cents...GOUGING? Yep, the gas in their tanks was ALREADY there this week!!
Mixed feelings about high prices, I really could care less, but it's the PRINCIPLE of the the raises...we DON'T have to have them!!
Enviromentalist Wackos have caused this!!
I think Ma Richard must have been an aberration too. Hah.
When there are articles posted about Perry, I will start paying attention. Since I don't live there, what I know about his is practically nill, but I was VERY impressed with his planning and coordination of agencies today.
I do donate blood to the Red Cross but they're the only ganme in my town where blood is concerned.
I agree with you 100%. We cannot let the people terrorize hospital staff and other good, defenseless people.
I'm completely out of snuff with Rick Perry and unsure how I'll vote next year, but he sure looked and sounded good on TV today. I'm pretty sure that it's just because he compares so favorably to the clueless LA gov.
I haven't even read down the thread yet to where the actual announcement was made by the President. I know I'm not the first to say it, but one outa three ain't bad.
Yep, it is hot and very humid after a hurricane, much less the normal in August in NO. That 5 day old baby on the overpass was heartbreaking. It will hurt the GOP if they don't jump in soon. The Dems will play Shep's reports over and over to show how inefficient we were, even though it's a democratic city and state. Quit fiddling and start acting and get the overpass tragedy off the front page!
And the whining about our great President's tone makes me wanna hurl, especially in the face of this terrible, unfolding tragedy, and heartache of so many Americans. And when President Bush listed all the help already on its way to the area, he said: "And that's just a START."
Dang: Whiners write an earmarked CHECK already. THEN whine, if they must.
Priorities and perspective....
Which side of old Hwy 90 did they live on? South side next to the lake is all but gone from what we have learned.
In retrospect, your brother made a wise move.
Salvation Army is excellent, too, jwalsh.
Thank you for posting a link for them.
Red Cross can have my blood...but not my money. : )
