President Bush to address the nation on Hurricane Katrina...has flown by the damage on Air Force One on way back to D.C.
That's just what my husband yelled to me from the family room. Clinton would have been biting his lip and feeling everyone's pain but wouldn't ever have even THOUGHT about mobilizing the military.
78,000 was mentioned a bit upthread by someone.
That rings as correct to me.
God! have mercy on us.
You don't know how important a clean pair of lederhosen is until all you got is the Saddamite droopy drawers :-)
The statewide balance of power issue didn't cross my mind, but the first part of your statement did. I bet my mother today that a good chunk of these people on their way to Texas will probably decide to stay. They've got nothing left in Louisiana/New Orleans anyway, that and the sheer fact that Houston is fine and NO barely exists anymore. I'd be very surprised if NO came back as half of what it once was.
FNC - CHECK OUT THE NEW VIDEO
Well now that we have so many people of our own that are displaced from there homes and need jobs it really makes even more sense to stop illegal imigration. And maybe even cut back on legal imigration until we get these people taken care of.
Dunno. Perry was pretty emphatic about 23,000. Do you spose FEMA is going to foot the bill on the duration of their stay?
Don't know why that struck me so funny, but ROFLMAO!
I hope people will NOT donate to the Red Cross, German or otherwise. They mis-handled funding after 9-11 and most of it ended up God only knows where.
I think a lot of $$ give to Red Cross ends up at the Red Crescent and I'll be danged if they'll get one nickle from me.
Catholic Charities or Samaritan's Purse will probably be my choices.
I believe it is around fifty, not fifteen.
But of course! Even Jeb rolls up his
sleeves and gets out there with water
and ice!
It's the RIGHT THING to do...
And I swear if I hear one bleeping Dem bash the President for any of this going on down there
%%%%%
I sure hope that White House press corps folks were also in AF1 looking at reality during the flyover. If that doesn't cause them to do some straight reporting of our President for a few days, then absolutely nothing will.
There are 78,000 in shelterS. Not just the Super Dome, but spread out through other shelters in the area.
Fox showed a bunch of prisoners in orange but Gibson didn't note who they were. I don't know if my satellite stream is actually what you are seeing on Fox in the USA.
It was time for all 3 elements (inspire, comfort, and the accountant's list). Platitudes alone were not what the situation required.
Thank you for confirmation.
That new video on FNC, the crowd in the flooded street-- looked just like it could have been India. Guy spit right into the water too. eeuuww
Gibson just noted that they were convicts.
Those guys in orange are prisoners being taken from the jail
Ronald Reagan did not give platitudes. Please do not distort the intent of my post.
