You know most of those people will never leave if they are brought to Houston, why would they return? nothing to go back too. This could actually affect the balance of political power in Texas.

A little food for thought here for everyone who's been saying that we shouldn't rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, that we should just bulldoze it all over and give it back to the snakes and the gators. If all of us "idiots" (to use one of the kinder terms I've seen here) have to go to the "safe" areas because you don't want to pay to rebuild the coastal areas, how will it affec t your life?

My nephew writes me that every hotel room in Houston is filled with refugees from Louisiana esp. New Orleans.

So, I guess she and the mayor are spending today...praying..... not organizing water.

In between media appearances, that is. That was one thing I told my kin person - she ought to be up there handing out water instead of trying to be a Cindy with the media. Instead she is talking to the rest of the country. Her citizens have no way of hearing her drone on and on. Oh well, they voted for what they got. Shame.
/Rant over

No heart.

What do you mean "No heart"? Because he didn't bite his lip and say he felt our pain? THIS President is not into oratorical flourishes.....His "heart" is in the positive ACTIONS he is taking to help these Americans.

I don't even care if they restore fuel-blending requirements, but for heaven's sake: streamline it. How about three blends: California, High-altitude and Normal.

How many are there now? Fifteen?

Another thing: I hope EVERYBODY on this forum is watching what is going on in those states and REVISING their lists of things to have in case of a diaster.

No doubt, and I'm seriously considering whether living near an urban area with wife and kids is a wise lifestyle choice right about now.

The question - where are the other 522,000 people from N.O.?

Filling up Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, and every other place they can find.

They want to go down this road

They won't be able to stop themselves. And yes, we'll be ready for them. We always are.

I'd have to say most of them are handling the evacuation privately, either with family, friends, or hotel rooms.

My point is this:

I LOVE this President!!!

But...

He has smart people around him who have had 5 days to write a speech that would inspire and comfort.

I didn't hear that.

I heard an accountant's checklist.

Ronald Reagan would have had a different response. The response of the Commander-in-Chief is crucial.
