It is with heavy heart I write this...
I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.
He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.
Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.
They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.
The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.
The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.
More to follow....

However 13 hours after the post some people are still waiting for the pictures or reports of the killing fields described in the OP. But why let facts get in the way right? It doesn't concern you that there is still so much silence?

"There are no counties in Lousiana. Louisiana has parishes. Calm down."
I know that. They've been referring to them as "counties" however.
Welcome to FR.

nah you're not moving the goalposts one bit are you? No. I'm not. What I answered was your post# 1371.
He alsoe said whole families were washing up on the beach too...is a beach not in plain sight?
You asked if a beach was in plain sight. I answered that.

I don't know. After the initial wave of coverage was over I stopped listening to it.
I don't recall hearing where she was going to college.

...Where are pictures of Slidell?...
On CNN. I saw five minutes with a cop there earlier. He was going to go check on his elderly neighbor. Said he wouldn't let the family come back for weeks yet though. He stayed through the storm.
Obviously, more is known and the media is in more places than some people on this thread would like to admit. Apparently, planes and copters can't fly more than fifty miles any more so we get no info.
But to believe the media is some "reliable" source of information... I just cannot do that.
So the alternative is to take as gospel second-hand unsourced reports posted anonymously on the Internet.
Good luck with that.

2 - I refuse to feel sorry for the able bodied men who are being rescued. You'd think they'd be humiliated to use up valuable resources to get their sorry rearends out of the jam they got themselves into in the first place. Sheeeeesh already. 3 - One more thing. Those people in the Dome should be grateful - counting their blessings - that they had a place to go. You'd think they could get themselves organized in there to at least clean up after themselves. Whatever it takes. It's like they're a bunch of helpless babies. Sheeeeeesh.
Gee aren't you a wellspring of compassion..

Robert Kennedy Jr. penned an Op Ed yesterday blaiming the Hurricane and those that have died on the fact that W didn't sign the Kyoto treaty.Fortunately, that name has been so soiled, sullied and thrashed by the dysfunctional family that nothing this idiot (or any other surviving idiot) says means much any more.

I know that. They've been referring to them as "counties" however. I'm from Louisiana and it doesn't hurt my feelings for people to call them "counties." They are, essentially, the same thing. I understand they have "townships" up in Pennsylvania...:-)

so what, these people were going to WALK across the city to get to the buses or WALK out of the City of New Orleans?
this was a complete and utter disaster of planning. I can't blame the people there that had NO recourse but to go to the SuperDome.

DJ it is hard to take this literally because it is hard to figure what lions ate before man sinned, lion teeth and digestive organs not being properly configured for grass chomping. I have always thought it vain to believe that all of God's purpose relates only to man.

According to The World Almanac the death toll from Camille was 256. Possibly 143 was the number killed just in Mississippi.

I think you are looking for reasons to be angry. If it wasn't this, it would be something else.
You think we should care that Hugh Hewitt says there are some kooks on FR? He's not telling us anything we don't already know. Hugh is smart enough (so should you be) not to lump "some" into "all", since he's been a Freeper for years.
What do you think should be done, cyn? Shall we ban all kooks, so that the rest of us can chat about acceptable subjects? Shall we tell people to stop putting up threads based on hearsay, because Hugh and you find them kooky?
Please enlighten us, cyn.

Curious that MFH has avoided addressing me directly on this issue.
I have asked some questions...was the first one to call BS on this story...yet he hasn't said anything directly to me.
Interesting.
