It is with heavy heart I write this...
I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.
He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.
Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.
They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.
The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.
The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.
More to follow....

Now I'm seeing a story from a very excited man who drove into flood waters on a highway and found himself surrounded by alligators. I don't think he needs any coffee today.*shrug* The 'gators will reduce the death count...

I saw a video of that today. The elderly couple were caught in the surge and swept off the highway into a ditch. It just happened to be where an alligator farm was located. Of course the little critters got curious and came over to investigate and even while the guy who rescued them was telling the story he was almost laughing because though the gators were back in their pools, one had one eye firmly locked on the guy and the camerman and they kept switching to it watching them. Probably annoyed they cheated him out of his snack. The couple was taken away. The guy had called for help and the paramedics came for them leaving the guy who rescued them and the tv crew...and the gators back on the farm. True story!

Excellent links for information. Thanks.
I didn't see any links to George Soros contributions sites. Did I miss them? :-)

I was afraid it might be like that, entire coastal communities wiped out. All those little fishing villages and towns gone. This storm was like nothing I have ever seen, short of a tsunami.

I believe it's been referred to as "Sean Hannity Syndrome" (SHS).
Perhaps, however the acronym I had in mind was RINO.

Decade? What an optimist. Just the financial ramifications dictate twenty years at least. Then factor in the 'why' factor. Why live there? Why take the chance? Why invest in a disaster waiting to happen all over again?
Just curious where do you live? California near a fault line? Seattle near a submarine fault line, and active volcanoes? On some river flood plain in the Midwest? At the bottom of a mountain in flash flood or avalanche territory? In tornado alley? The South Bronx or DC or some other crime infested area?
Do you get my drift? Aren't many places you can live that isn't a disaster waiting to happen. You balance the risk with the benefits of living there. At least in Hurricane areas you DO get warning, and CAN get out ahead of storms. That makes them pretty unique in terms of disasters.

Has anybody heard the media mention the "C" and "T" words??? (cholera and typhoid)
Which is why they're organizing to evacuate people away from this now-Third World area as quickly as possible. Otherwise, the conditions there could kill more people than the flooding.
Few people in this country appreciate how important proper burials and modern sewage systems really are.

Isn't it strange that no pictures of these thousands of dead in the trees and on the beaches from cell phone cameras have surfaced yet? I haven't seen pictures of ANY bodies yet. I guess that means nobody died at all?

BTW, why haven't air medivacs come in onto the bridge into the Superdome to help those people with water. They are baking out there on those concrete ramps. Surely a huey or something could load up some cases of water and drop them off to them. That's basic 1-2-3 logistics. GET OUT THERE SOMEBODY WITH A COPTOR. ONE GUY ON THE RAMP NOW SAYING IF ANYONE IS LISTENING, GET ON IT AND GET ONTO THESE RAMPS. THESE PEOPLE NEED HELP NOW.
You know, there are lots of reporters and copters flying around, one of them could drop off some water and a medical team. Criiiiipes! GET WITH IT!

God also gave us a rainbow.
I get upset when people refer to catastrophic storms as an act of God when they are not. There's definately a "blame Bush" crowd but there's an older group......."blame God". ;)

I wouldn't want to mess with those p*ssed off gators. Someone said they had spotted a 3 ft shark by a strip mall. I'm wondering what happened to all the sharks from the Aquarium of the Americas. They also had pirrhanas there too.

Admittedly, this isn't like camera-happy California but, contrary to public image, the South isn't actually backwards technologically. A few weeks ago my California based cell phone and I went hundreds of miles without any antenna bars in southern MO/northern AR. (Incompatible local coverage)...
