The FEMA director didn't know he'd be dealing with several feet of water and road that are not passable.
That being said, I wish all these people would shut up, stay off television, get together at a command center and figure out a plan.
As tomkat said earlier, no one who needs information about boiling water, etc., can hear them anyway.
They need to pull school buses and any other buses in the neighboring area not effected by this storm and start busing people out of there
FEMA is getting good experience for a possible nuke attack on a city...those TOPOFF drills dont cut it.
Reuters, at least, reported "hundreds dead" in Biloxi. Bodies everywhere, according to others about Biloxi-Gulfport. There's no way to know anything about New Orleans yet but it isn't looking real good.
There doesn't seem to be any way to get them out.
It's become a tomb.
I am a little confused. I see reports that there's going to be 5-15 feet of water into NO from the lake by tomorrow, but then the Mayor expects the city to be functioning in 4 weeks?
great news!!!
Thanks Woodstock....it's going to be a LONG prayer night.....
Could have, Should have. What's with the quote?
I am with you -- wouldn't have needed the Mayor or anyone else to tell me to leave. I would have been gone on Friday if I lived below sea level.
Couldn't the toilet problem be managed somewhat by feeding everyone MRE's? From what someone else posted, they produce less waste than many other types of food.
If you happen to see a number for them again could you ping me with that please?
Thanks...
FOX reporter- NO police Lt told him that the city has deteriorated into a 3rd world country.
Yahoo- French Quarter a war zone.
MSNBC- Armed " civilians " roaming around French Quarter.
Molly Henneberg of FOX and her crew are stranded somewhere- and will hunker down for the night.
LOL, if you're going to go to the trouble to have a conspiracy web site they could at least spell Reagan right!
"I'm not appalled that failures happen, I'm merely amused when people find them somehow unusual."
Is that your reaction to the fact that NO is literally drowning in the next 2 hours with 9' of water coming in?
You're AMUSED that I find it unusual that there is no lock on a canal that runs thru NO and has miles of suspect levee?
Say Good Night, Gracie
Restoration of marshlands would provide a great deal of additional protection to the city.
Did anyone else just hear the 2 callers on MSNBC? They are members of the group that gives the haunted history tours. One is in an apartment in the french quarter. Water is rising; people are walking around the streets below her apartment with guns. Her boss called next, he is in his home, is upstairs with 2 ft of water (toxic soup, he said) in his downstairs. Sounds very nervous. Knows about the evacuation order but as he said and I think most of us realize, there really is no way out of there. My God, this is so awful.
Somebody needs to move the mayor's office to the Superdome for the duration.
Me too....we haven't even heard from many areas out of NO.
I did hear officials from Plaquimine Parish have said the gulf has moved 40 miles inland there.
Plaquimine Par. lies to the south of NO.
