Prayer is good, but you must also take action. God helps those who help themselves.
< The Saturday evacuation calls were voluntary. The Sunday one (which happened about 8 am) was the first mandatory. >
But my point is I would not have needed to be ordered out.
I saw that too. Thethe mayor seemed a little incredulous at the stupidity of the question.
The mayor is being pretty straight forward. Said the pump failed and now there's nothing to stop the bowl from filling up. Superdome is a big problem now. Evacuation not for a while because of the flooding.
Was it? Maybe so.
Carry on. ;)
An engineer whose wife was pregnant and near term didn't care. he took whatever flight he could take. She gave birth very soon after landing.
She may blame Bush but the people of LA won't forget.
"To: Howlin
Well that deals with surge failure, not later failure, which is what happened to the main bowl, and fails to deal with the elevation of Lake Ponchatrian, and just why the water is 3-4 feet above sea level and
supposedly according to a CNN reporter supposed to rise another 5 feet. I find it totally and utterly baffling."
The water in the Lake has to flow out and it takes time.
During that time, there is storm surge and rainfall flowing INTO the Lake from most other directions.
Currently the inflow exceeds the outflow.
Not a problem lady.
I am sure you all did well in Boston in a blizzard; but again, apples and oranges. It stopped snowing - the water is still running in.
Mass has a much better inrafastucture. and compared to New Orleans, your poor are middle class.
Again, I replied to a poster asking us to note the "ethicity" of the looters. I will not abide that. This bad behavior would break out in any community - anywhere, anytime, under such circumstances.
Some of the looters were POLICE Officers (just showed the video on MSNBC).... Marty Savaage is going to show the whole video tomorrow morning on the (urgh) Today Show.
The Superdome folks will be there a week unless they decide to evacuate, says the mayor.
Mayor Nagin saying on CNN interview - the refugees in the SuperDome will be there for another week.
To be honest seeing how the evac and the law enforcement and other state wide agencies were deployed in record time and how well the evac went from the nola area yeah I give her credit. Does she know whats she going to house 100,000 refugges as well as the housing of all the other evacs while they have to wait out a month prob not right at this point but I suspect she , nagin, bush, fema will figure it out
NO Mayor on CNN: evacuees will be in the Superdome at least another week unless they can get an evac plan in place because of the rising water.
Hurricane Rasputin would get my attention more than Katrina
HOWEVER, the pumps are there to pump out water -- Yet they do not work if they are under water! Does anyone see the flaw in the design here???????
Just got some good news - heard from relatives in Covington (just north of Lake Hard-to-spell) are okay.
What??
< Sorry, but in this forum, we blame politicians. >
Hmmm...so we are libs? No personal responsibility? Or do I detect sarcasm?
