The river is not currently navigable for boats or ships.
I just logged in from getting some much needed sleep....
What is the latest?
What is the situation on the levee's? (more breaks?)
Your idea is top notch - I hope someone in the area thinks of it too.
The Cindy Sheehan is bad because it is wrong and hurtful to the troops anyway, anytime. It has always been bad timing for it.
Don't be shy - tell us what you really think! LOL!
I think I also saw last night that Walmart is matching dollar for dollar donations also.
You cant plan for something like this. The city is 8 ft below sealevel. Nothing man made can stop mother nature.
They knew this was coming for years. And they accepted planning that left 100,000 people behind. Now instead of driving them out on roads on Sunday, they have to get them out through water if they don't hurry.
In any disaster there will always be those who are dumb, uneducated, crazy, drug addicted, looters, etc...that wont do the smart thing. Now they are paying the price. Its not the citys fault that those people didnt get out.
Here is straight link to the Mississippi State storm map via Clarion Ledger:
Strong winds, downed trees and power outages were reported in many Mississippi counties as a result of Hurricane Katrina. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has not released a report of county-by-county damage.

Steve Harrigan just reporting from Gulfport that at least bulldozers are now clearing a path so that Emergency vehicles might get through.
That I don't know. Mr. Jeeves did bring up a point about the money it would cost to send the stuff there. Sooner or later tho, they will need these things. Even if it is just enough to get going till insurance gets going. If anyone knows, pls ping me.
Please keep reporting WDSU -- server is apparently overloaded and can't connect to feed.
The causeway dumps into the flooding. Maybe there is enough above water there to set up a base to spread out from, however.
Is that a parish? Sorry, I am very unfamiliar with all the areas affected. :(
excellent info - thank you!
And all this rain from the Ohio River valley will end up in the Mississippi and eventually flowing through the state of Mississippi and Louisiana. Unless they can get the dikes rebuilt in New Orleans, the city stands to sustain flooding for several weeks not days.
also the 65 watts riots too
Who is Maestri?
We have an amazing nation. God bless all those responding.
