"Move America Forward"; then Back Ten Steps - What was accomplished?...
theOneRepublic Jounal ^ | 8/29/05 | Eric Hogue

Now that the nation has experienced the "Battle of the Moms" in Crawford, Texas, what have the organizers of Move America Forward (California Congressional hopeful Howard Kaloogian) accomplished with this high priced media caravan?

What did they accomplish, other than boosting Cindy Sheehan's media attention when her saga was growing old and cold. The folks at Move'on and "Sheehan Tent and Awning" should send Move America Forward a donation check...nothing better than 'un-efforted' attention from the press. Just get the name spelled right.

Has MAF produced a desired result for the military, for the citizens of this country, or have the founders of MAF created another attention grabbing 'stunt' for their web site and future political campaigns?

What argument has MAF funded with this latest stunt?

What ideological core value has MAF offered America? That a majority of Americans are for the war against terrorism, and a little under half of the citizens are not? Didn't we know this already?

Over the weekend, I heard numerous anchors recite the same tag line after returning from a 'live report' from Crawford, Texas. The studio anchor, or 'anchorette', would simple say, "Emotions are running high on both sides". And they are right.

This latest stunt has done nothing but create emotions...[more]

We wont win by being passive!

Who's suggesting passivity?

I'm suggesting we ignore the cindy thing and start our own OFFENSIVE (as opposed to defensive) DRIVE, one which utilizes our inherent beliefs to our advantage.

For example:
A conservative-donor fund to provide medical assistance for sick and injured Iraqi children.

If (and that is a big IF) this author knows that he certainly didn't learn it from the enemy-aiding MSM. They are reporting the leftist scum crowds are bigger than the Bush supporting crowds--an obvious lie the alternative media has exposed.

No - America did not know this - if one only sees the MSM - as many do, how could it be known? Local news programs show the Left, most networks show the Left. So do newspapers, magazines, etc.

Without speaking out,HOW COULD ANYONE KNOW?

Some reporters/contributors really need to think before they write - and why is this guy not asking - " What has Sheehan accomplished, except a media circus, slander of our troops (including her son), and further degredation of America? "

Lets get those answers, shall we? JK

While everyone is entitled to their opinion - Eric clearly has missed the boat with this one.

Had we NOT gone to Crawford, the MSM then would have used that in some way - asking where is the support we hear so often about from the right? Why aren't they here?

We had no choice but to go and stand in the face of the evil destroying America. Ignoring it won't make it go away, only standing up and continuously rebutting every word said by the Left is the only chance we have.

We have teachers in the H.S. and College levels teaching hatred and intolerance to the upcoming generations - masking it as 'peace movements', we have the MSM at every turn telling the American public 'no one supports this war', and we have idiots like the preacher in Kansas who attends the funerals of these soldiers when they come home - using that time as a protest against the war, often times sending hate messages to the parents.

We HAVE to stand up EVERY TIME.

This time, we have no choice.

Well, the LOONIES are LOONIES after all. However, I love the photo and I'm sure that really ticks off the LOONIE who took it. What a patriot. The commenter on the other hand is a total moron. It was probably Michael Moore.

Idiot doesn't realize that the worst thing for Sheehan and her radical friends is too much exposure. The more they cover her, the more her anti-American statements leak out.

She should be ignored, but the MSM aren't ignoring her, they are casting her as some sort of icon, a symbol for what they contend is the majority view that the war in Iraq is wrong.

If she is ignored, she will be viewed, or portrayed, as having won. This cannot be.

Sheehan is an experienced, professional anti-war protestor. She's being paid for this, right?

I feel this rally was 100% successful. I am proud and honored to have participated and been in such good company. This will be a highlight in my life and I have made it a point to live my life to the fullest.

I didn't volunteer my services because of what this could do to the left or to necessarily promote the right.

I volunteered my serviced because it was the right thing to do. I didn't know how large this would be, no one did. When it's time to speak up, I do it. I will not forsake my freedom or the best interests of the American people to apathy. I encourage people to follow. I don't twist arms. If I'm out there by myself making not the slightest bit of difference to the over all picture, at least I know that I'm doing the right thing.

I was a soldier during the first gulf war. I'm educated enough to understand the role the media and the left played in demoralizing and dishonoring our troop during Vietnam.

Most people on this site understand what and who the far left is. These are the groups supporting Sheehan. They don't like America as it exists and they don't have the slightest clue what it is to support the troops much less sacrifice their own lives for freedom and democracy. These people come from the same tree as the Fondas and the Kerrys.
They openly embrace and embolden the enemy as our sons and daughters fall on the battlefield. They have, and rightly so, the freedom to express themselves without retribution from the government. What they put forth is in the worst taste and dishonors America and all we stand for. For me not to put forth the effort to counter them would make my apathy just as egregious and disgusting.

We did this to bolster our troops and to make an effort to exercise our freedom of speech in opposition to the over inflated hype the media pored over a misguided mother with a radical left leaning agenda that is not representative of even main stream democrats.

We will not be silent. Conservatives have learned their lesson. When duty calls we will leave our families and our jobs to make time to let our voices be heard.

You can not support the troops with out supporting the mission.

Never in any other time in history has the mission been any clearer.

Thanks Free Republic for allowing me the honor of assisting you.

It was a wonderful event. I would do it again in a heartbeat with the full knowledge that not a single camera would be present. Just being in the presence of good all American company makes it worth it to me. We can shoot our own video and send it to the troops.

I love and honor our soldiers, and I support their mission 100%
