"Move America Forward"; then Back Ten Steps - What was accomplished?...
theOneRepublic Jounal ^ | 8/29/05 | Eric Hogue

Posted on 08/29/2005 12:26:43 PM PDT by ParsifalCA

Now that the nation has experienced the "Battle of the Moms" in Crawford, Texas, what have the organizers of Move America Forward (California Congressional hopeful Howard Kaloogian) accomplished with this high priced media caravan?

What did they accomplish, other than boosting Cindy Sheehan's media attention when her saga was growing old and cold. The folks at Move'on and "Sheehan Tent and Awning" should send Move America Forward a donation check...nothing better than 'un-efforted' attention from the press. Just get the name spelled right.

Has MAF produced a desired result for the military, for the citizens of this country, or have the founders of MAF created another attention grabbing 'stunt' for their web site and future political campaigns?

What argument has MAF funded with this latest stunt?

What ideological core value has MAF offered America? That a majority of Americans are for the war against terrorism, and a little under half of the citizens are not? Didn't we know this already?

Over the weekend, I heard numerous anchors recite the same tag line after returning from a 'live report' from Crawford, Texas. The studio anchor, or 'anchorette', would simple say, "Emotions are running high on both sides". And they are right.

This latest stunt has done nothing but create emotions...[more]

Not a chance! Eric is a rock solid conservative.

Then explain his apparent departure from reason in his claim that none should talk back in protest against the Leftist moonbats.

Sorry, buddy, you are clueless...

I'm clueless. Kalifornica has probably the largest concentration of left wing lunatics in the country! Take a look at the "red/blue" voting map of the last election!

We can represent the effects of the electoral college by scaling the sizes of states to be proportional to their number of electoral votes, which gives a map that looks like this:

Who's clueless?

After all it's the electoral college that counts and you guys aren't going to change it out in CA anytime soon.

"Then explain his apparent departure from reason..."

It's sour grapes. Eric works at an insignificant radio station that can only be heard for about 20 miles, while Mark Williams works at the radio station that has the largest geographic coverage in the U.S. (KFBK Rush's original home base). Mark gets national coverage, while hardly anybody even knows that Eric, and KTKZ exist.

Right, and Free Republic -- this website -- is based in California. Are you always this rude to the host? An accurate map shows breakdowns county by county, but you're not interested in facts. Electoral votes are all that matter... blablabla...

So, why do you condescend to even speak with Californians?

If there's another way of dealing with hysterical people, let me know.

It it was just Cindy you would have a point. But if that were the case she wouldn't be getting the attention she is. She is just the front freak for the movement created almost out of whole cloth by the moveons and codepinkos. Without the other side speaking up they would carry the argument and we would be on the way to 1968-redux.

I'd like to believe California has a large conservative bastion, but after the Recall of 2003, it's obvious that a lot of the self-identified "Republicans" in this state are just Democrats who don't want to pay high taxes.

Eric Hogue could use a cup of hot chocolate.

Or perhaps a nice cup of hot steaming tea..... hemlock tea of course.

First off, KTKZ's coverage is much more than 20 miles - although it is much less than KFBK's.

Also, ratings are not Eric's focus. He strives to make a difference, and if he gets ratings for it, that's just dandy. But he's not out exclusively for ratings like Williams.

I guarantee you that people in the capitol take Eric Hogue much more seriously than they do Mark Williams.
And Eric gets plenty of national coverage. He is a primary fill in host for several national talk show hosts, and when a big story breaks on local talk radio (the recall, Stephen Pearcy's paintings, ext.) the TV cameras always seem to find their way into KTKZ's modest studios across from Cal Expo - not KFBK.

"He thinks that if there had been no caravan, the media would have not focused it's attention on Sheehan and the story would have died out."

I'm sorry, he is wrong. Cindy and troops are just getting started and "The Crawford Surrender House" was just the launching pad. Cindy is now a celebrity and anywhere she goes and everything she says will necessitate media coverage.

On the other side, the right is now energized to meet Cindy anytime anywhere.

Wait until Galloway and Fonda get their groove on...with Cindy out in front.

We tried to "ignore" them in the 60s and 70s thinking they would crawl back under their rocks, now my main objective is to DRIVE them under their rocks.

I'd prefer to smash them on their rocks. Then break the rocks into gravel and salt the ground upon which the rocks lay.

"The MSM ignored it, because it didn't happen on their turf."

The MSM ignored it, but we got tons of local media.

But, regarding Cindy: we should have demonstration of support for our troops and the USA, but not on Cindy's and the MSM's turf.

As a Texan, I'd say that it is our turf, which she has invaded. She has very little support among the locals. It's close to the most populous military post in the free world, Ft. Hood.

It's our turf sir, and we shall defend it.

That's a fact, and great news.

I've read a few AP articles about the weekend and all that's done is make me need my BP meds more!
