Rev. Al Sharpton's driver arrested near Dallas
11:25 AM CDT on Monday, August 29, 2005
Associated Press
WAXAHACHIE - The Reverend Al Sharpton's driver is free on bail after sheriff's deputies say he was arrested for driving 110 miles per hour on an Ellis County highway near Waxahachie.
Jarrett Barton Maupin, 43, of Phoenix was freed on $1,000 bail after Sunday's arrest.
An Ellis County sheriff's spokesman said a deputy spotted a car containing Maupin and Sharpton speeding north yesterday afternoon on Interstate 35E, about 40 miles south of Dallas.
State troopers headed off and stopped the car just west of Waxahachie. Maupin told the troopers he was hurrying to get the New York civil rights activist and two other passengers to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
Williams said the car was impounded at the rental agency's request, and Sharpton and the two other passengers were offered a ride to a nearby hotel. They declined and said they'd walk, although there is no word on where they went.
Sharpton had been in Crawford earlier in the day to visit with Cindy Sheehan, who has been leading an anti-war vigil near President Bush's Central Texas ranch.

"...who pomade their hair." Pomade? Is that what the Dapper Dan stuff was that the Geo Clooney character used in "Oh Brother,..."?

I'm take a wild guess that the phase "DON'T YOU KNOW WHO THE ^&%# I WORK FOR?!?!" was uttered during the stop.

Thanks for the report, but I think he still looks like Moe Green w/o glasses.
I could not find a suitable picture of Alex Rocco (Moe Green) or I would have posted them side by side. Anybody have one?

A driver for the Rev. Al Sharpton led Ellis County Sheriff's deputies on a nine-mile chase at speeds up to 110 mph before state troopers stopped the car, authorities said. The driver was rushing Sharpton to the airport after his visit anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan on Sunday at her camp outside President Bush's ranch in Crawford. The car carrying Sharpton and two other passengers was clocked doing 110 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 35 in Ellis County in North Texas, said Lt. Danny Williams.
The car ignored deputies' attempts to stop it and continued speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before it was stopped, Williams said. Calls Monday to Sharpton's spokeswoman and his attorney were not immediately returned. Deputies arrested Jarrett Barton Maupin, 43, of Phoenix. Maupin told the officers he was hurrying to get Sharpton to the airport. Deputies impounded the rented 2005 Lincoln. Williams said his officers offered Sharpton and the other, unidentified passengers a ride to a hotel across the highway, but they declined and walked there instead. Maupin posted a total of $1,000 in bonds on charges of
evading arrest with a vehicle and reckless driving. Jarrett Barton Maupin aka:Kid Sharpton

A great staged moment for sure, just like the scene yesterday. Photo ops provided for a hungry over eager press.

Aha...the "Voice of the Poor" renting a 2005 Lincoln and has a driver. Your typical Liberal. Obviously an Escort or Taurus wasn't good enough.
And for some reason the MSM doesn't seem to notice the hypocrisy!!!!

It wasn't a "speeding ticket" it was a Reckless Driving Criminal charge. Big difference, ie., jail time.

'Do you know who I am?'
'Yes! As a matter of fact, that's why I stopped you. I was wondering if you give me your autograph?'
'Why certainly, young man. Where do I sign?'
'Just below the line that says, 'I promise to appear.'
'But I get stage-fright when I'm in front of a bunch of people.'
'No problem. We'll make sure just you and the man in black and one other person is in the audience.'
'Okay, I think I can do that. I always did want to appear with Johnny Cash. Speak to my agent and he'll work out my speaking fee.'
'How much would be agreeable with you?'
'Being this is Texas, I'll give you a break. $5,000.00.
'That's might generous of you, Al, baby. Just make the check payable to the Magistrate Court.'
'But....but.....but....but . . . . .'

Does Sheman support speeding or is this some sort of new high speed bullet car the liberals are working on?
