This part is separated by the industrial canal from downtown. The water will flow away from downtown. Apparently, this similar levee was dynamited during Betsy (as told to me by my parents).

I agree, but then, Harrigan has seen a lot of crazy stuff as an embed in Afghanistan and Iraq, for which I give him a heckuva lot of credit.

This may not seem all that crazy, to him, given the stuff he's seen/done in the last few years.

"I think that the media wants to make this storm look much worse than what it really is because for the 48 hours they have been hyping it at the worst storm to ever hit the United States and they just do not want to be proven wrong in their predictions as they usually are most of the time."

AGREED!!!!

"ABC is reporting an oil rig broke loose in the Mobile AL area and hit a bridge over I-10."

I hope the bridge can hold up, though I doubt it.

Yes, I know.

The structure is still sound, the roof is peeling off though.

My thoughts too.

I Hate to say it, but CNN has it all over the incredibly stupid FOX team this time out.

not the corridor between NO and Biloxi

It's exactly in that corridor. NO is getting strong north winds now and Biloxi is getting surge and SE winds (it will be worse there).

Finally, Steve runs for cover (it took a large piece of roof almost landing on him)!

Checked in on CNN and they are doing a serious study on an awning and some light fixtures, smirk, smirk.

Heard that goofy Governor from Louisiana today. Figured the DNC faxed out the talking points yesterday.

"Whatever you do, mention that Louisiana needs more federal money. Do the best you can to cast aspersions on this administration.

Try to get in the possibility that President Bush caused this hurricane. Suggest that he made it worse and arranged for it to veer around his brother's state to completely destroy New Orleans.

Be sure to mention at every chance that Louisiana needs more federal money."

Yeah, I saw that too. Orlando Salinas. He held that anemometer up and had trouble keeping it still enough to read it. Sounded like he just made up a number at the time. He seemed to be all hepped up on adrenaline or something.
