Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

But if you are trapped and can't leave, what is the difference if you know it is coming or not?
The sad thing is if President Bush was killed, most of the anchors at ABC/CNN/MSNBC/CBS/PBS/NBC/HNN/BBC would be busy saying how he brought it on himself -- and they'd be trying hard not to smile on camera.
That whole thing was a fiasco. I hope lessons were learned.
Have you read Chief by Daryl Gates? A good insight into the situation that existed in the LAPD at the time.
steve lyons on TWC channel, its crossed 89.9 longitude (NO is at 90).
Geraldo's wife just had a baby... he's sticking close to home these days... actually, I dont' want to see anyone hurt from this thing, but I think it's going to be historically bad.
No worries - it'll ALL be the same news tomorrow, or Tuesday, or Wednesday, or...
Steve, it felt way wrong all day when I logged on and saw that Katrina had blow up big in the middle of the night; and the authorities fiddle farted around half a day.
Freepers last Thursday were advocating evacuation of NO. That prolly was not doable. But, when she exploded in the middle of the night, that was the time to pull the trigger.
I bet the food is MRE's....yummy..
JMJ! He's already lost power?
We filled up first thing this morning.
Are you kidding me? Have you heard how Schiavo is doing?
***anybody find out what happened to those fools on the rocks who were watching the waves?***
Haven't heard but if they get what they deserve . . .
when their bodies wash up the lawyers will be waiting to help their families file lawsuits against the city, the state, the government, the ocean. . .
You did share, didn't you?
I did not say that.
And the house shakes like an ongoing earthquake. I lived in Miami Beach as a young girl and went through one of these, not fun at all.
If this ever turns out to be as big as they make it out to be, and I don't believe that it will be, then the roof of the Superdome will be in Miami.
Here, lets crowd everyone into one confined space...
That is because they are tankers and not cargo ships.
I'm not sure where you're talking about.
I was forced to leave the Land of the Yinzers back in '82, and have been an economic nomad ever since. I've lived in NC, Md, Ky, Mi, Nv and now Tx. As far as I'm concerned, everybody ELSE talks funny no matter where I go.
