A day in the life of President Bush (8/28/05): includes pics of pro-GWB rally in Crawford

PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President Bush, as he readied the federal government for a massive relief effort, on Sunday urged people in the path of Hurricane Katrina to forget anything but their safety and move to higher ground as instructed.

"We cannot stress enough the danger this hurricane poses to Gulf Coast communities," Bush said as the storm roared across the gulf toward New Orleans and other communities. "I urge all citizens to put their own safety and the safety of their families first by moving to safe ground."

With forecasters warning of a category five storm, the president made sure the federal response would not be delayed by already declaring emergencies in Mississippi and Florida just hours after a similar declaration for Louisiana. Such declarations make federal aid available to assist with disaster relief, but they are rarely made before a storm even hits.

Working from his Texas ranch, Bush participated via videoconference in a large meeting of federal, state and local disaster management officials preparing for the storm's onslaught. Separately, he spoke by phone with the governors of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.

The President also spok about Iraq and asked the nation for patience regarding the Iraq War as the Iraqis work toward ratification of their constitution.

THE WEEK AHEAD: The President's schedule is subject to change due to Hurricane Katrina. As of now, his schedule remains as announced. President Bush will stop in Arizona on his way to Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino County, Clifornia on Monday. In both states, GWB will discuss a new Medicare reform program.

On Tuesday, President Bush will deliver a speech at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego, California. The speech will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Japanese surrender aboard the battleship Missouri in Tokyo Bay on Sept. 2, 1945, to end World War II. He is expected to draw comparisons between Japan in 1945 and Iraq in 2005, as the latter works toward achieving a constitutional democracy.

I'm so pleased to see that you think that Casey went into the service to get away from Mom.

I voiced that opinion on a thread the other day and killed the thread.

Glad I'm not alone in my opinion.

Thank you, Wolfstar. Great Pictures, if you compare the one from 2001 and now, you can really see how he has aged. Bless his heart. The libs keep yelling about him being on vacation, some vacation, most people don't realize, he may be on vacation, but never off duty.

g'day 4integrity! That is great about the packages to the troops. I am trying to think of something that the Aussie soldier may like - I guess Vegemite is the generic Australian food. I think any kind of cookies or candy would be welcome. We have an Australian candy called Minties - which are chewy peppermint candy. Let me know if you would like me to send some candy from Australia that your friend can forward on. I'd be happy to help out!

Despite rantings from agenda-driven pollsters and their media masters to the contrary, the President's job approval rating is no different today than it was on November 2, 2004 when he received more votes than any other presidential candidate in history (and a higher percentage of the vote than Bill Clinton received in either of his election bids)!!!

According to Rasmussen, the President's job approval rating among 'adults' stands at 49% today -- if one adds the 3 points that Rasmussen indicates is appropriate in order to approximate the rating from 'likely voters', the President's job approval rating is actually 52%!!!

Visit the following thread to read new yorker 77's excellent analysis current polls:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1472294/posts

BTW: Job approval ratings are NOT popularity ratings. To determine a president's personal popularity, one must review his LIKABILITY RATINGS -- and GWB has always had a likability rating between 60% and 70%!!!

FYI: The President's ratings will jump around over the next several weeks until gas prices settle into a predictable range. So don't panic when you see Gallup and AP announcing another NEW LOW for the President -- always remember, when it comes to job approval ratings IT'S ALWAYS BOTH THE 'ECONOMY STUPID' AND THE 'SAMPLE STUPID'!!

We're going to be in La Jolla doing a video shoot, but if we get done early, we're going to try to be on the streets. This is a military ticket-only event, but I'm sure there will be people lining the streets.

We were at the anti-Sheehan, pro-Casey caravan rally at the KOGO radio studios last week. We were in the paper and everything!

People have GOT to stand up to this anti-America crap and say we love our Country, our President, and our troops...and show it!

Thanks Deb yet again with your wonderful analysis and info finding when people were going on about polls on the Sunday Talk Show I mentioned your name and gave you credit for explaining how bias these polls are.

Hey there...we missed the rally...between having to pick up a friend's car at the airport AND my friend having type I diabetes, we wound up all the way into Crawford and just ate at the diner and then went to the rally site...missed it and went too far north...so we missed the rally, but got some pix in Crawford. Will post as soon as I have them uploaded...probably during the week.

The left wingers have him down as far as 36 percent, Naturally the pollster from the American Research Institute only polled adults and we know what that means don't we?

Thank you for the prayers, anonymoussierra. I'm up north, more than a thousand miles from the hurricane, but we have been praying all day for the people down in the southeast in Louisianna, Florida, and Mississippi.

Oz, I'll let my friend know about Vegemite and Minties. Thanks for your suggestions. Thanks, even more, for your very kind and generous offer to send some Minties for my friend to include in her packages. Freepers are such wonderful people! Warms the heart.
Will try to locate these items. God bless you.

It's the first thing I thought of. She had to be a b***h of a mom to be around, especially if you didn't share her left-wing agenda! I'm glad to find someone else who shares MY opinion of her!
