If you or your family is in the path of Hurricane Katrina, if you would like to, please "sign in" here so that we can keep track of our people as this storm progresses, especially after the storm has passed.
Virginia signing in. Our prayers are with you all down that way. After Camille hit in '69 it caused some catastrophic flooding in the Virginia. I'm praying that that doesn't happen again as well.
Clear to partly cloudy and HOT here in central Texas :o)
We are praying for all those in the path of this storm.
That was me. I sent y'all a follow up, but...
Anyway, one of her posts indicated she would be off to see BB King with her daughter from Atlanta.(google says nash, TN) The flight was to be this afternoon.
Hugo survivor, Charleston, SC here.
My wife has aunts, uncles and cousins in New Orleans area, prayers needed.
We just bought a puppy from a breeder from South Mississippi. I just checked their website and they just had new puppies Aug. 24th. My prayers for all of you.
Thanks for thinking of this, Howlin.

Where are you specifically? Town? Major cross streets?
Thank you! I was worried about her.
Got family in covington. They seem all ready to weather it out as well. Good luck over the next few days
Just checked in with the wife and she is battening down the hatches further. We lose electricity in a spring breeze, so she is filling up all the tubs, buckets, pots, and anything else she can get her hands on.
Fortunately, the above ground pool that we just put in is a source of water for non-potable water.
She is a champ. Said don't worry, she's got it under control.
Pelican Five
Bought booze and cigarettes to ride out the storm. In Chicago. All levity aside, you Gulf-coasters are in our thoughts and prayers, and I speak for at least 20 here.
Thanks. She will be inconvenienced but can sustain herself. I will be on duty with the Guard for the duration, so I am out of the picture for her. See my previous post, she is a champ.

Yep, we're ready...rode out Andrew here (not to make a foolish comparison to *this* storm)...
Louisiana Hwy. 1 is an alternate route out from New Orleans and areas south and southeast of here.
La. 1 is two blocks from my home, plenty traffic heading north but police are working the traffic signals and keeping things flowing.
Ice is nearly sold out here but all gas sations are still pumping as of 2:50 pm....
I picked up the normal necessities but if the power is out for an extended time I'm ready to head west for a few days...
If there are ANY homebound Freepers here within my area that can't get out to buy extra batteries, water, etc. by all means post here and I'll try and help out anyway I can before the I-10 bridge is closed...

Thanks for this thread Howlin....!
Go get your grandmother now. It's only 50 miles and you can help her in the aftermath. If you all don't get hit, then you can just call it a pleasant visit. But, go get her now before it is too late.
Thank you, Howlin. As long as we are able, we will check in.
I must spend alot of time reading on here....my husband is concerned for my "FReeper people" in the path. :o) You all and your families have this family's mega prayers!
Richmond, Virginia throwing out some prayers for you folks on the Gulf Coast.
When Camille came through in 1969, after demolishing the coast, it ended up killing over a hundred people just north of where I grew up (Nelson County, Virginia) with 24" of rain in one night. Don't ignore these things once they get inland. Everybody keep your eyes open and your heads down.

If you are in the path of the storm, or know any other FReepers in its path, let me know where they are and I'll include them on the map.
