New 9/11 Probe Could Spotlight Iraq Link

Congressional hearings coming this fall into revelations by the military intelligence group Able Danger could spotlight other evidence overlooked by the 9/11 Commission: including a March 2001 report suggesting that Osama bin Laden was working with Iraqi intelligence operatives in Germany at a time when Mohamed Atta and two other 9/11 hijack team leaders were living in Hamburg.

"Two Iraqis were arrested in Germany, charged with spying for Baghdad. The arrests came in the wake of reports that Iraq was reorganizing the external branches of its intelligence service and that it had drawn up a plan to strike at US interests around the world through a network of alliances with extremist fundamentalist parties." Al Watan said that German intelligence was investigating "serious indications of cooperation between Iraq and bin Ladin.* The matter was considered so important that a special team of CIA and FBI agents was sent to Germany to interrogate the two Iraqi spies."

Sandy Berger is traitorous scum. He committed several crimes when he smuggled those documents out of the archives.

I think it is kind of ironic that the CIA IG report has come out about the same time this "Able Danger" stuff has hit the fan. I hate to think this, but I cannot discount it the mutual hatred of the DIA for the CIA could lead a reasonable person to believe that the CIA and its supporters might be pushing for the release of the Able Danger information.

Did the 9/11 commission actually investigate an Iraq, Syria, Iran, SA, or any link from 9/ll terrorists to any government?

Was this their mandate?

If not what exactly was their mandate, specifically?? (besides to defeat Bush that is)

This could put a sock in all of the left wing agitprop that is about today.

That's what I was thinking...

It doesn't seem like they investigated anything to any great depth.
I have not read the report but only going on the info I have read or heard of.
It seems to me absolute lunacy to have had Jamie Gorelick on the commission when she was so involved in the problem they were commissioned to investigate.
But I'm no expert.

Well, since they took testimony from NYC firefighters as I recall, I think they basically looked at what when wrong that day, and some intell problems.

No way did they have time to investigate any and all ties to foreign gov.

I'll bet there are things we will learn years from now, because of ongoing intell work.

I'm convinced Gorelick gave a heads up to Berger as to what documents were there and needed removal.

Cross-reference:

1/3/03: Osama bin Laden "modeled himself" after Imad Mugniyah... It was Mugniyah, among others such as right-hand man and former Egyptian Islamic Jihad head Ayman al-Zawahiri, who made Osama a terrorist... Ramsi Binalshibh (Mohammed Atta's roommate in Hamburg) this year met with Imad Mugniyah in the Tri-Border. Binalshibh, having been charged with logistics in September 11, was a relatively high figure in al Qaeda before his September capture in Pakistan. If he met with Mughiyah it could be a signal for a very large attack jointly concerted between the two groups against U.S. citizens.

Here's an idea: How about congressional hearings on the fact that Saddam's henchmen had a hand in Oklahoma City. Then we might inquire about Salman Pak. Then let's see where the facts take us.

But the old media will successfully ignore and under report these hearings, and keep most of America duly ignorant.

He should have been hung (after a proper trial of course) along with those who sent him in there.

Yet another thread today says that IRAN was involved. Isn't it going to be something if basically the Iranians, Syrians, and Iraqis all were involved in this---as many here originally argued? As Michael Ledeen has continually said, we have to take out Iran, and that will be tough in today's political climate.

What is the latest on "burglar's" sentencing? Will there be a stiffer penalty? I'd like to see him shot by a firing squad. Prior to the shooting I'd like to have him piss his pants and spill all the beans.

You know, I'm coming to the point where I think knowing the truth about 9/11, and particularly about the involvement of Iraq and Iran, is a lot more important than what happens to individuals. Even individuals that I don't particularly like.
