Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.
Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!
Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.
They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.
The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.
Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.
To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!
That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.
Did anyone hear anything about Jeb running? Someone I know sent me an email from Florida. I thought he said he wasn't running?
My son returned in March. He got a standing ovation at our local airport (and bumped to first class on one leg!) People ARE very appreciative of our soldiers even if the media doesnot think so.
Prayers & thanks for you and Jen.
Thanks for the link to the news report. Fair and balanced reporting is becoming a thing of the past -- too bad that Fox News isn't matching its slogan these days. But the rally prep, Kristinn and those who REALLY support the troops, the president and America were looking good!
As far as I know he isn't...yet
Whoooo Hooooooo!
Sniff, sniff, sniff...bait.
LOL! Ever since this subject came up I've had that song running through my head. So let everyone sing, "Tie a yellow ribbon 'round the old, oak tree; it's been three long years, do you still love me. If I don't see a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree. I'll stay on the bus, forget about us, and put the blame on meeeeeeeee....."
I loved the end of the song where he returns home to find a HUNDRED yellow ribbons 'round that old oak tree.
Congratulations to you and your family, and give a big hug to your daughter! My daughter is returning to Iraq today after a 14 day leave. It was amazing how many people shook her hand at the airport. Warm fuzzies....
Thank you for your kind words.
HUBBA HUBBA!
The report said he wouldn't get back w the protestors as he was asked to do by the Sherrif (kind looked like he was standing on the road).
Like I said on the thread on the FNC story, our side is usually respectable of law enforcement officers and what they ask us to do - I can't help but wonder if this was a plant from the other side. His sign said Let's Roll, best I could tell.
FOX going to Crawford after commerical.
Just heard Fox will be going live to crawford in just a minute!!
The FoxNews report that accompanied the arrest pictures stated that the protestor had been requested to step back OFF the road and onto the proper place for protesting...he refused and was arrested.
G
FOX PING NEWS coming up, fresh? reports from Crawford Rallies~!
Brian Wilson, just said FNC is going to Crawford after the break! I wish Tony were on this weekend. Nothing against Brian.
Media is out in full force at this site.
It was noted that Camp Qualls is not part of this rally, which is sponsored by MoveAmericaForward and FreeRepublic.
The California caravan has not yet arrived, but the number individuals here is currently estimated at over 500, and people are constantly streaming in.
Thus-far, traffic congestion is not a big problem.
The weather is unbelievably hot. With the high humidity, standing in the sun is nearly unbearable.
About 200 people were at Camp Qualls prior to my moving to Pirate Field. They had been there for a dedication ceremony, according to attendees.
The rally was initially planned for 1 p.m., but with a delay in the California caravan arriving it might be slightly delayed. Musical entertainment is being held on the stage.
All this information is being reported by the Iconoclast, a leftwing newspaper begun in Crawford after GW Bush was elected president - in order for lefties and liberals to say that even the "Crawford newspaper" didn't like Bush either.
With that caveat, their reporter estimates the crowd at more than 500 people and an additional 200 at the dedication of Camp Qualls, AND they hadn't even counted folks from the caravan! Looks like Cindy Sheehan and her leftist handlers awakened a sleeping giant.
Is this worth a prayer ping? (So many people we love are in Crawford today.)
I'm praying hard that God grants everyone there safety and an extra measure of grace and love for their fellow man.
(And a cloud or two for shade and a breeze. One reason I'm not on my way is that I over-did it in the garden yesterday and made my self sick)
Hey, I just gave your son a standing ovation too! Tell him yet another FReeper is honoring him today! :)
I just said Jeb was running, troll in the room. Posting on DU that the Dumb Freepers are late getting there. Posting from this thread.
