Hurricane Katrina continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. Currently, the forecast models are converging upon New Orleans. However, all interests in the northern Gulf of Mexico should follow the path of this storm, and be prepared for a major hurricane landfall. Throughout Friday, the official track forecasts moved west, as Hurricane Katrina delayed making the anticipated northwest turn.

Let's hope AQ doesn't have that kind of ability to act swiftly. If they do it means they have an aggressive and alarmingly nimble ability with which to strike.
Well you were gracious enough to provide a link. Absent that, maybe someone would assume I just typed it all out myself, just to scare the hell out of folks. :)
That reminds me of another letter Blanco wrote to the President. It was May of last year and Pres. Bush came to Baton Rouge to give the commencement address at LSU. You'd think, as Govenor, she would have made the time to greet the President - especially since he was in the friggin Capitol. But nooooo, Blanco was too busy meeting with Tom Benson, owner of the Saints. Some spokesman from her office said that it wasn't meant to be a snub - she was just too busy that day!!! I mean she didn't even send someone to represent her. Then she turned right around and wrote a letter to the Pres. requesting money for something (still trying to remember what). To show you what kind of man the Pres. is - he still gave her the money right away.
You're a migraine in motion.
Suddenly shades of the Titanic comes to mind.
I was thinking about the scene where where everybody's partying by the grand staircase, and the ship's designer whispers to the heroine:
"In an hour, all this will be at the bottom of the sea."
That runs into "hand of God" territory...
I remember that, I also heard from my Aunts in Gulfport that several young men were tied to a bridge to see the Hurricane and were found several miles inland.
"Yes, the crowd is way down."
You're right. On a Saturday night, there's usually a sea of people on the streets.
When Frances was heading our way, the evacuations started, I was begging my family to leave immediately!
My husband said...'Stay calm'...we will leave early in the AM.
It was a smart move.
The clogged interstate of the day before was practically empty, and we zipped up to Jacksonville in record time, where we had a reservation already made.
Not sure about that. There are still folks dining at the Oyster restaurant.
Last time I looked, the oysterbar stools were empty
939MB now
You would think that somewhere along the way, the folks would get it. Then again, maybe not.
Motto of the Democrat Party. ;)
Well some of those people might not be dense--they might have no way to evacuate, so why not have a night out.
Glad to hear it. There was an elderly couple and co. still eating at a table when I checked.
Did you get the updated list of streams?
