Rally Eve has arrived, and things are really looking good for the event in Crawford tomorrow. An awful lot of preparation has gone into trying to make this event very worthwhile and well run.
Some of us will be at the rally site by 9AM. If others are coming early, you are invited to come on by our rally site, and lend a hand in last minute preparations. Whatever time you come, use lots of sunscreen, bring a good supply of water, and wear a sun hat , The weather is predicted to be well over 100 degrees, with high humidity. There will be big fans set up to at least stir the air a bit, but be prepared to be hot. It is, after all, August in Texas.
Once again, here is where to find us: We will be at the Community Center, which is next to the Crawford High School football stadium, on East 4th Street. Freepers and friends who are already on site will be placing directional signs around Crawford, guiding folks to our site. Of course, there's always the possibility that these signs will be removed or destroyed by the other side--but we are trying to make it easy for everyone to find our event.
At this point, we have no idea how many will show up, of course. I've seen all sorts of estimates---but from experience, I know these estimates are always hugely overblown. However many show up is how many we will have is my best estimate--LOL!
We have an excellent lineup of speakers--most of whom are family of active duty service men and women in the Middle East now, and we have at least one man who will speak, who did at least one tour in Iraq himself, but who, sadly, buried his twin brother in June--the victim of a gun battle between US Forces and the terrorists.
A group of firemen will be cooking and serving Barbequed brisket and sausage on the grounds. We are asking for a freewill donation to cover the firemen's cost when you get your barbeque.
Angelwood has provided us with some of her wonderful Freeper buttons to pass around, and freeper W04 (I can't remember all of his name--will look it up and add it later), has sent some excellent, very large banners that we hope to be able to put across the front of the stage.
Kristinn has been in Crawford since Wednesday, making all the important arrangements for procurring all things necessary for putting on a rally of this magnitude. Doctor Raoul will once again be joining us.
Hope to meet and greet a whole lot of Freepers tomorrow!
EAGLES UP!
11:35 . Got it:')
We'll be there along with my daughter and a crew from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. She just went to make signs.
My prayers are with you. I know you guys will do America proud. Please keep us informed.
I wish I could hug everyone of you who are working so hard to make this happen.
It would be great to see you again, but time and distance are two things that are hard to overcome.
Thanks for your nice sentiments!
I'm looking forward to seeing them them there!
I noticed in your tagline that you are cheering on the 4th ID...
I heard today that they will be leaving Ft. Hood again to go back to Iraq....will this be the 2nd or 3rd time for them?
Second time for the Division. Some of the troops have already been over there twice.
Thanks for the link.....I hope tomorrow is overwhelmingly successful for the Pro-troops, Pro-Bush folks! God bless you all!
I just turned on CNN and they were showing the Cindy Sheehan commercial, STILL.
and this wasn't during a story about it. It was AS A commerical.
CNN is worse than pathetic...
That stinks! That is exactly why CNN is nowhere in my home! They are so biased they don't even try to pretend otherwise any more!
I'll be available to help setup tonight and tomorrow morning, so please give me a CALL (I'll be on the road) on my cellphone as soon as possible. I'll FReepmail you with my phone number and "real" name so you could contact me at the motel later if cellphone service is not working. See you soon.
It plays on Fox too :(
I can't watch Fox 24/7, but it is my channel of choice that stays on most of the time I watch TV...but,
I don't remember them ever showing it AS AN AD. I have seen them show it in order to discuss it...or point out the idiocy of it...but not as an ad that they are paid to run.
Has anyone else?
bttt
WOOOO HOOOOO! KRISTIN AND DR. RAOUL!!!
Basil, I have a suggestion: (If you got to read Ann Coulter's most excellent piece yesterday), Why not ask all those in attendence to raise their hand if they've lost a loved one in Iraq?
Add up all those who raise their hands so that we get a head count AND the opportunity to be recognized. Those people need to be honored!
I'd like to shake your hand, ladtx. Please look for me - probably sitting in a red/white/blue chair, wearing a white visor with my screen name in silver/black.
I also have something kind of funny to tell you about your home town. ;-)
God be with all of you in Crawford, Basil, as you pay tribute to our wonderful troops and their loved ones for their sacrifice. Cindy does not speak for any of them nor any of us.
That bunch of misfits who are surrounding and using her for their own twisted purposes are the same losers who have trashed our military and our Government for years. It's hard to believe they haven't left yet for Cuba or North Korea where life is perfect. Thanks to all who are caravanning and who have shown their support along the way.
Thanks for the great photos, tomkat--they say it all. Who can ever forget the Iraqi election thread?
That I can do. My flag flies every day (except in rain) in support of our troops and our leaders!
My husband and I are leaving in a little bit to join ya'll. I am so excited. My husband is at his recruiter's office as I type to pick up some material. See you at the rally!
