Katrina is emerging into the very warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico early this morning after making landfall in SE Florida, then tracking SW. Thus far, she is well ahead of schedule, leaving at least four fatalities in her wake, and well over 1 million without electricity.

I think so.

"The interstate 40 bridge, officially titled as the Hernando Desoto Memorial bridge, is often known as "M" for Memphis, "M" for Mississippi, or apparently to local boatmen as the Dolly Parton bridge."

That's not the "Dolly Parton bridge."

I take full responsibility for not posting the 50K limit for graphics at the start of this thread. Have done it for most all the other hurricane threads, and those went along without problems.

If you must, please explain why a descriptive link is a big problem in lieu of posting the graphic.

Nauti Nurse works hard on these threads and she deserves credit, appreciation and thanks.

I know she's not looking for a fight and neither am I.

Anyine else following the Key West radar? The eye seemed to leap to the west in the last two sequences of the long range loop. At first I thought it was a hole in the time sequence but the timestamps show 4 minute intervals. 'sup with that?

If you must, please explain why a descriptive link is a big problem in lieu of posting the graphic.

Because links-only sucks. We can post graphics to threads because that is the format of this political forum and it is one of the things that makes it enjoyable. I've had several posts commending the graphics and asking that they continue. I'm not trying to hurt anyone, I'm trying to be helpful. There's no reason why reasonably-sized graphics can't be posted to a Free Republic thread.

One is no problem, try 10 in a 50 post set.

That's fine. I understand. I'm not complaining about NautiNurse, I'm complaining about eastforker.

I appreciate what NautiNurse does here.

I've been watching it on and off today; I have a really BAD eye for that kind of thing, Non, and I depend on you guys to tell me!

A kind suggestion: If I were you I would reduce the number of posts you're displaying. I'm on broadband all the time and I still only display 20 at a time.

I will tell you why. Those of us who live on the coast, and actually lose sleep and property due to these storms use these hurricane threads to share information. As these deadly storms near landfall, the traffic on these hurricane threads increase dramatically (over 12,000 hits in a few hours). The graphics really show down the threads.

Links are a perfectly viable alternative.

I know. I traced eastforker's comments AFTER she posted that comment to me...lol... which is why I asked if he/she was in a bad mood.

200 miles from the gulfcoast! You think? Maybe lots of rain, (which we NEED) but the river is LOW - like at less than 2 feet.

* Have not seen a snake either... and "I" crawled under the house one day to have a look at where the basement begins and ends...lol.
