I don't go because
1. I don't like screen talkers.
2. I don't want my money going to leftists.

Stuart Varney sat in for Neal Cavuto last night, and he had a report on the movie theater industry. The reporter concluded that it's hard to fill theaters when the movies stink. "Stink" is precisely the word she used.
Varney chuckled and agreed. As did I, by the way.

I go to see the movies I wish to watch. There's not many. We do plan to see The Brothers Grimm this weekend, however.

It's not just movies. The general outside entertainment revenues are down. Concerts among them.

Hollywood should make
more movies with giant bugs.
Big insects are cool!
To: manny613
They keep increasing prices. $10 a movie is a ripoff.

At one time I did enjoy seeing a film at a theater, but now I can't stand the endless run of coming attractions and the commercials shown before the movie starts.
And then, there was the time some goof ball's cell phone went off.

What do they expect? The low-lifes have got the upper hand in the public square thanks to the ACLU and other idiot Leftists. It's so that decent people can't go out in public without being accosted by beggars, bums, bongheads or butt-surfers. Small wonder public venues are suffering. They STINK...in more ways than one.

I think Ms. Farrop is absolutely right about the size of the projection screen getting smaller and smaller with the multiplexes. Unless you get the biggest projection rooms, from about halfway back to the back to the theater the screen size of multiplex screening rooms don't look much bigger than the 50" (diagonal) widescreen rear-projection TV's nowadays--and rear-projection TV's with DLP, HD-ILA and LCD elements usually sport color accuracy, brightness and sharp focus that leaves most theater projection screens WAY behind.

The columnist can write whatever she wants, but unless she's willing to put down her own money to bring back big beautiful movie theatres, her opinion is just hot air. Sturgeon's law states that "90% of anything is crap" and its probably 95% for movies. However, if I wait I can find that 5 or 10% of good movies and avoid the crap. Unless the movie itself is a big spectacle like the LOTR trilogy, why would I shell out all that much money when I can see it for less at home? I wait 6 months for the film to come out on DVD - and the popcorn I make tastes better than the movie theater's.

Hollywood should make more movies with giant bugs. That would cover about every Michael Moore movie...

Here's my reasons...
1) The sound is always too loud and too booming - reality doesn't sound that way.
2) I get tired of watching fat people eat too much food.
3) Too many people talk through movies (when they are crunching on pop corn).
4) The floor is sticky.
5) Movie theaters have become daycare centers for teens (since they have no where else to go).
5) Holllywood leftists being obsessed with themselves and their own opinions have made every movie some sort of political statement which is applauded by the ignorant under-educated who spend too much time watching movies.

With home theaters, cheap DVD's, microwave popcorn why waste your money? I just wait until they come out on DVD or the movie channels. Very few movies today are worth the cost at the theaters.

The general outside entertainment revenues are down. Concerts among them. How could that be true? The Rolling Stones are kicking off their It's My Walker, and I'll Hobble If I Want To tour! Who wouldn't want to shell out $100 a head to see that?

Leftist, elitist industry through and through.
Noisy, trashy theaters filled with cell phone, screen talking bores.
Ticket and snack price gouging to the extreme.
Poor quality entertainment on the screen
Sounds like a recipe for failure to me. Skip it and read a book.

Most movies made today just are not very good. They are stupid, senseless, unbelievable and yes they STINK!
Make a good movie, you will get the peoplet to come out. Stop paying these actors MILLIONS to make one and you can reduce the price of the tickets. That will make MORE people come out too.

It is a short list of good movies that have been made since about 1975-80.
Leftywood sucks. You can tell they are hurting for original material with all the retreads.
To: MarkeyD
1. I don't like screen talkers.
2. I don't want my money going to leftists I had an entire tirade written... and you summed up everything I wrote in just two, beautiful sentances. Well done.
Still, I'd also add a line about the general wretchedness of films these days. With the exception of the films The Ring and The Grudge, horror films are just horrible special effects vehicles these days. "Art films" and "high drama" are just preachy leftist propaganda, and comedies all seem to star Ashton Kutcher.
