39% Say Withdraw Troops From Iraq, 46% say NO (Rasmussen poll)
Rasmussen Reports ^

Since Juan Williams loves to quote polls (Especially 3 week old ones) I believe he said on the panel today a majority of Americans want troops to come home. Lets see if he'll mention this one

August 21, 2005--Thirty-nine percent (39%) of Americans say the U.S. should "withdraw its troops from Iraq at this time." A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 46% disagree and 15% are not sure.

Among those with family members who have served in the military, 34% say it is time to bring home the troops. Most in military families, 56%, disagree.

As with most questions concerning the War, there are huge partisan differences. Democrats, by a 57% to 24% margin, say it is time to bring home the troops. Republicans, by a 71% to 20% margin, disagree. Those not affiliated with either major party are evenly divided.

An earlier survey, asking a related but distinct question, found that 44% placed a higher priority on getting troops home than "finishing the mission in Iraq." In that survey, 46% said finishing the mission was more important

Related survey data showed that 35% of Americans have a favorable opinion of Cindy Sheehan and 38% have an unfavorable view.

Forty-three percent (43%) of women and 34% of men say it is time to bring home the troops. Thirty-eight percent (38%) of women and 54% of men disagree.

Married Americans say now is not the time to withdraw troops from Iraq by a 50% to 37% margin. Among those who are not married, opinion on this question is closely divided.

When it comes to the overall War on Terror, confidence that the U.S. and its allies are winning has fallen to the lowest level ever.

If 51% or more americans support coming home that will still not make it morally right or correct from a national security standpoint. The decision must be based upon the Iraqi government's ability to sustain it's own security.

That says, it shouldn't take another four years. If the Iraqis have the will they will be ready in months not years.

Ah DUH. Let's see. Stay in a palace where things expolde at random, the is raw sewage runing down the streets and you work very long days under miserable conditions. Or come home to air conditioning, TV, regular hot meals and clean sheets? However, Juan, what you should be looking at is how many of them are reupping to go BACK to Iraq. But of course you will not look at that number because that doesn't fit the Hate Bush agenda your Hysteric Leftist paymasters tell you to spew.

They got 39% and they had to survey fag-land to do it.

No, there is about of 1/3 of what I call the Cast Iron Right who want to bring the troops home and bomb the ME into a glass sheet. The mistake the Hysteric Leftist make is they think this 1/3 is with them. It is not. Look around here. There is a signifcant segment of Freepers who faults Bush for being too PC in fighting this war but these same people have no times for the Terrorist loving traitors on the Hysteric Left.

My concern is for the 35% who say she's right. Way too high.

No this is the same 35-40% who will always think what ever the Democrat Party tells them to think. Go back and look at the polling history. This number wanders around since March 2003 (usually going up when bad news, down with good news), but it all ways stays right between 30-40%. The sorry fact that keeps getting missed by the Dinosaur Media is poll reflect how people feel at any given minute, they do NOT reflect reality.

I agree with you.

IMO its time to start looking at alternatives if the current system can't come up with a draft constitution in a reasonable time. I'm still definitely in the 46% but that is pathetic.

The left is pulling out all the stops to affect these polls

Yes, it is really funny to watch. Seems no one explained to them that GW Bush is President until Jan 2009 no matter how many phony "polls" the Dinosaur Media manufactures.

We need an EXIT STRATEGY from IRAQ

The Exit Strategy is exactly what W has been saying since Feb 2003. Victory. I know this is really hard for the Chicken Little Freepers trapped in Blue State America, but try to stick with us on this. Doing what is RIGHT is more important to the long term health and safety of the nation then worrying about what happens to be popular in the Dinosaur Media. Funny how no one comments on the Pew Poll that showed a majority of Americans felt the American "News Media" was actively working against US interests in the War on Terror. But I guess for the Hysteric Left, some polls are more equal then others

EXIT STRATEGY: 1) Win in Iraq 2) then, and only then, leave if no longer wanted by Iraqi sovereign Government.

Is the creation of an Islamic Republic a 'win'? If that sovereign government, approved by the Iraqi populace, asks us to get out and uses Islam as the basis of Iraqi law, is that a 'win'?

Pity and to the point as always WOSG. Hope you have the post below saved as a macro. Going to need it again and again. Can you tell me any other group that is been so wrong so often about so many things that STILL is granted such enormus credibility as the Dinasour media and their phoney polling data?

if iraq is in the rearview mirror for 2006/2008, if most americans feel we've turned the corner - we will be OK. if its still in the windshield, we've got trouble

Curious OV. What % of Americans say the War in Iraq is the most important issue facing the country? Never confuse what is important to the people with what is important to the Dinosaur Media.

It would appear that the Democrats in this poll have raised the white flag... It's all over, we lost and it's Nixon's... oops Bush's fault.

Yes. Please give me three examples in the last 50 years of a democratically elected government going to war against another democratically elected govt?

I know this is hard for Cast Iron Conservatives to understand but stability and keeping the "wogs" crushed under the heal of a pet bully boy are mutually exclusive concepts.

"The percentage against any pullout would be well over 70%"I agree.I don't trust polls, and(imo)i suspect that a poll truely represenative of the American public would indicate that Americans overwhelmingly support our efforts in Iraq.Polls?Just more msm disinformation designed to manipulate public opinion.

Never. You have too many people who base their whole conception of reality on what either some ranter on Talk Radio or some moron Hysteric Leftist columnists tells them it is. Our job is to keep the Adults in power in Washington until the US Military kill enough terrorists to convince the wackos that messing with US gets you 1 thing. A serious case of the deads.

all these freepers telling us "everything is fine" don't want to adress that, and they don't want to address what "plan B" is if the constitution process fails and the interim government has to be dissolved.

Not only that. It is meaningless. Seems the Dinasour Media missed this little fact. GW is President until Jan 2009 no matter what their maufactured polls tell them.
