BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech professors are complaining that their university is discriminating against women by allowing gender-segregated classes for visiting Saudi Arabian faculty members.
Eloise Coupey, an associate professor of marketing at Tech, filed a complaint with the school's equal opportunity office on Tuesday. The complaint alleges the single-sex classes offered to faculty from King Abdulaziz University created a hostile environment for women.
Coupey said in an interview that the segregated classes indicate to her that Virginia Tech "doesn't place a strong enough value on women's rights."
Several faculty members are unhappy with Tech's decision to offer separate summer classes for about 30 male and 30 female King Abdulaziz faculty members, in keeping with the preferences of the Saudi university.
Virginia Tech received $246,000 from the Saudi school to design and operate the program.
Saudi faculty members said that they were separating by choice, not by force.
The classes are continuing, but the course segregation is now optional.
Money talks. . .
Why shouldn't Saudi law be applied in the USA? Did you think we were an independent nation? Or that Sharia isn't a far better way of life for women than those idiotic ideas
of Thomas Jefferson?
Can't wait till the Supreme Court starts including references to Sharia interpretations in its decisions.

Thgat would look like the establishment of a religion to me. I'm sure they wouldn't do it for anyone else.
Gloating at the intellectual bankruptcy of the Left and their lunatic self-contradictions is all that keeps me going, some days.

They hate the West. Why are they here ?

The recombination of feminism and Islamism could prove to be deadly to the West. Be careful for what you wish.
true because it has all but destroyed this society
true
they are here to take over and do so by the old, subtle way that communism took over,to seek out and destroy from within-remember the Bolshevic Revolution?
LOL, man I feel the same way. Nicely put.
Let's show the visiting faculty all the respect for their culture that those visiting THEIR country would receive in return (ie, NONE).
That's right. There are lots of dykes who go around in baggy overalls, to hide their female figures from the oppressive ogling of male chauvinist pigs. It's only a short step from there to a burqa.
Islam also has lots in common with others on the far left: anti-capitalist greens, radical Chomskyite conspiracy theorists, and the Stalinist heirs of Soviet Jew-killers.
The best we can hope for is an alliance that degenerates into Judean People's Liberation Front-style bickering. The Left is full of uncompromising true believers and eventually eats itself, time and again.

This "gender segregation" is ridiculous, and violates the "separate but equal" ruling of the Supreme Court in Brown v. Board of Education. But remember, just about ALL American colleges, including VA Tech, have separate sports teams for men and women. To put it bluntly, we have "gender segregation" in college sports, and have had it for decades. For whatever reason, having separate "Black" and "White" teams is considered unconstitutional, but having separate "Mens" and "Womens" teams is somehow considered constitutional.
I'm not necessarily advocating the abolition of separate "mens" and "womens" teams at colleges. I'm merely pointing out that such separate teams represent "gender segregation" and appear to violate the principle underlying the Brown decision.
I wasn't born yet.
I would love to be in the all female class. We would get together and wear miniskirts, show cleavage and our feet and give him hell.
