Can teams still fire their cannons after they score?
To: WestTexasWend
I think they can. I seem to remember it last year.

Oh, make me puke! Indiana and Kentucky used to play for the Bourbon Barrel. No longer. Ugh.

Can teams still fire their cannons after they score?Unfortunately, that'll probably only be an issue for the Sooners...

Probably should ban football because of the physical contact.

Good thing they changed it. Now people won't think they really are having a shoot out. (Of course attendance will probably drop when they now realize it is just a football game.)

I can't figure out why Oklahoma and Texas want to play in an old obsolete stadium in a rough part of Dallas.

Sorry...should've tagged that sarcasm. Plenty of coaches hear OUs cannon in their sleep ;)
With corporate sponsorship come the corporate PC police. Together with Miles Brand they'll we'll someday have Team A (Longhorns being offensive to vegetarians) playing Team B (Sooners being offensive to Laters) in the Natural Fiber Bowl (cotton being offensive to decendants of slaves and not inclusive of those raising sheep, goats and silkworms).
Tech fans, keep your Guns Up! That could be next.
To: WestTexasWend
Hmmm... I thought it was called "The Shutout", not "The Shootout".

Agreed. I've felt that since the inception of the Big12, they should just alternate between Austin and Norman every year. I feel good about the game this year, mainly because OU graduated most of their team (or rather, most of their starters have played out their eligibility). UT will definitely have to find a way to stop Adrian Peterson.

Next thing you know, they'll take the "cocktail" out of "The World Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party" because they don't want the Georgia-Florida game to be associated with alcohol.

Mississippi State and Ole Miss play the "Egg Bowl" every year. Surely someone, somewhere, is offended.

Arrgh! Makes this longhorn wanna go down to Scholtz's and drown myself in Ziegenbock. Oh, man I miss that place!!! Hard to find such places living in suburban Dallas area.
