PRISTINA -- Monday UN officials in Kosovo have received threatening letters from the Albanian National Army which are believed to signal a new campaign against the international administration of Serbias southern province.
UNMIK staff have been told to report threats to the security service, say Belgrade media.
But the Kosovo Protection Corps, the home guard formed by the transformation of the former guerrilla Kosovo Liberation Army say they are not surprised by the groups threats.
Corps commander Agim Ceku says that the Albanian National Army has organised bomb attacks on the UNMIK headquarters and attempted to assassinate President Ibrahim Rugova.
The director of the Forum for Ethnic Relations told media that the lack of cooperation between Kosovo Albanian politicians and UN officials has opened a space for extremist activities.
Its obvious that the Albanian movement is mixing violence with politics. When the politics isnt working they resort to violence, said Dusan Janjic, adding that UNMIK would not cave in to threats.
Did you notice the change at http://www.KosovO.com ?
I wonder what happened to Lt. Colonel, Nuri Salif Muhamed, from the Iraqi Army. He got busted by the Serbs trying to illegally enter Kosovo, in 1998.
If the ANA attacks NATO, it should be destroyed relentlessly.
Too bad this wasn't noticed about a decade ago.
Serb nationalist Dobrica Cosic suggested the same thing well over a decade ago.
I'm sure the usual suspects will be along shortly to deny that the thugs are preparing to turn on the UN forces.
Doing so will only hasten the return of the Serb Army so I don't think it likely that they would follow through on this. The KLA desparately needs the UN around to hide behind and they know it.
All NATO would have to do is let the Serb Army reclaim its territory. The ANA problem would be solved in a day or so.
What are you gonna do with 2 million + Albanians who have the highest birtrate in Europe?
neutralize the mafia the best you can and integrate albanians that have been known to want peace...difficult task.
Ship them to China.
...or better: Give'em the "ethnic clean" Krajina...!!!
Beijing, I'm sure, would appreciate the kind gesture.
