Oasis singer 'as good as Elvis'

Outspoken Oasis singer Liam Gallagher has compared himself favourably with Elvis Presley in an interview with a Spanish newspaper.

"There's Elvis and me. I couldn't say which of the two is the best," he told El Mundo.

Oasis are top of the bill at the three-day Benicassim Festival, which began on Thursday.

Gallagher has a reputation for his candid views, often criticising other bands and their music.

Avoid confrontation

Those in his sights in recent times have included the Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party.

He called the Kaiser Chiefs a "bad Blur", referring to another band who have felt the wrath of Gallagher.

The two bands will avoid a confrontation at the Benicassim festival, near Valencia, as the Kaiser Chiefs will be playing on Saturday while Oasis headline on Sunday.

The festival attracts more than 30,000 revellers per day, with many British and US bands featured in the line-up.

Other bands on the bill include Keane, The Cure, Basement Jaxx and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

There will also be comeback performances from the Lemonheads and Dinosaur Jr.

I'm sure 90% of the world's population can help him out on that one.

Maybe he's just referring to their shared habit of doing vast quantities of drugs.

Hey, why stop at just the music when you're ripping off the Fab Four?

I'm thinking Liam Gallegher is to Elvis as this guy is to Liam Gallagher.

Wait a minute! That's an insult to Elvis since William Hung is actually much better than Liam Gallagher! At least Kate Moss says so.
