Allen's apology for lynchings not enough ['Lynch'burg editorial]
Lynchburg News & Advance ^ | August 4, 2005 | editorial

Some Virginians believe that Senator George Allen, R-Va., did not go far enough in sponsoring a Senate resolution apologizing for that body’s failure decades ago to outlaw lynching. They believe that he also owes a personal apology to blacks for the display of a hangman’s noose in his law office more than a dozen years ago, along with a Confederate flag at his log house in Earlysville in Albemarle County.

When the media stops lynching conservatives, perhaps then I'll listen to their whining...

I heard him on CSPAN speak at a Republican fundraiser recently. He's my choice for president in 2008. A true conservative. Sounded more conservative than our present president with the same concern for values.

I can see why some folks'd get a little jumpy if this guy had a noose on display in his office, but come ON now - what the HELL is wrong with a confederate flag?

Attacks have started which means he is a very credible candidate. I am so tired of PC I could scream. Have already started to make small donations and may have to increase them to Senator Allen so he can win reelection and then transfer funds to a Presidential campaign fund.

Allen is a good man.

Screw these nitpickers who ignore the likes of Sheets Byrd.

He was in the Senate back then, how'd he vote?

And they know he can win.

Allen / Rice in '08.

I'm calling it right now.

BINGO! Had the same reaction when he spoke at our Oklahoma Convention this spring. He was the most dynamic speaker I have heard in person and I have heard a lot. He is my ideal candidate for 2008!

Now that the media has started their attacks, am sure it is the right decision.

Lynching has always been illegal – it’s called “murder”. I don’t believe there was a State in the Union that did not have laws against murder.
Of course, Biggest Brother – the Feds – didn’t have any laws against murder at the time, and a lot of people think we should get rid of the State’s except as a provincial designation and put all laws and law enforcement in the hands of the Federal government.

Are you ready to go to work for Allen in 2008? Looks like the sign at our Convention is going to turn out to be true! Bet there is an explanation behind the noose -- probably a gift -- that's how the RATs work -- give someone somthing and then criticize them for having the item.

I love the sound of "President" George Allen!

He's also the number one choice of Zell Miller per his conversation with Sean Hannity of 2008 contenders yesterday.

NO!!!

I'll gladly work for his campaign, should he run, but in 2005 I'm not even remotely interested in discussing '08 stuff. He needs to win re-election first. :-)

This 'editorial' has been almost run verbatim as 'news' in a couple of MSM papers.

I saw noose/Allen refered to before with the black-lynchings and nary a mention of Byrd's, KKK connection.

If it wasn't so purposely-twisted I'd laugh my a$$ off!

Allen is a good man, I've met him before, he does not have a discriminating bone in his body. In fact, I'll bet he received a large number of black votes when he won the Governor's race in 1993, and the Senate race against Chuckie Boy Robb in 2000. George Allen is my candidate for 08. Go Hoos!

exactly why I say any Republican who's thinking of running should keep his mouth closed this early in the game. The MSM will destroy any good conservative before 2008 if they start now. Truth does not matter to them!
