I'm considering getting transfered from my job and moving to San Deigo or Los Angeles (where my company has offices.)
Any Freepers want to give a Jersey girl some advice?
I've never been to Ca. but I've had it with Jersey. I know there are at least five Conservatives in Califorina (thats three more than NJ)- help me out people!
Much of the country is very jealous of California and it's wonderful year round weather. Very jealous. But it's been that way since I can remember, going back to the late 50s. Nothing new.
Can't blame them, in summer, while they are sitting in pools of sweat, from horrific, uninhabitable humidity and heat, we are enjoying about 85 degrees, with little or no humidity, with the beach, mountains and desert all close by.
In the winters, most of American sits in a dark, cold, frozen landscapes, where the wind blows, and their cars slide into each other on the ice, where it's a pain in the butt just to go outside.
All this while they curse California! HA!
Aren't all gas stations in the nation self-serve? (With a few, scattered retro's)
You beat me to it;)
cookaforina sucks!!!
I was shocked when, at 23, we attended AIT in Georgia during the summer; and IT RAINED. I had never known RAIN could be WARM.
In the natural order of things, rain = winter = cold.
Bakersfield has nice...nice...PEOPLE! That's it! Nice people!!!
I was going to say don't do it but then I saw the NJ. At least the weather will be an improvement
They are right next to the Spanish ones.
Unless, you happen to live in Spain, or South America.
:7)
There's an awful lot of red states between those blue states. You couldn't find one of those?
I think I know where you're talking about, but I haven't been there in 5 or 6 years. John's Burgers was my favorite place to eat.
What kind of a designer are you ? Circuit designer ?
"and you shouldnt get spooked by anonymous dopes on a message board"
Of course yourself is included in that description. Dork
"Donald Bren, owner of the Irvine Company, sees to that. The upside of this monocultural, white-bread life is that you know you're safe"
Is Joan Irvine still alive? Does she and Bren still feud over land in the local newspaper there?
Man, did you have a Wizard of Oz moment, or what? ("Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.") If you've got kids, forget about even trying to move them back east.
Trivia tidbit: Pat O'Connell, the younger blond kid in "Endless Summer II" was from Indiana when his parents moved to OC when he was around 12. He tried surfing and was a natural. He ended up becoming one of the best surfers from Calif. He still refers to how his life could have turned out if he was still in the midwest.
I thought you had made a bunch of money buying a house in Woodland Hills?
I think I drank it too :). Anyway, I misread a post, and I meant Oxnard, not Bellflower.
"There are less illegals in San Diego than anywhere else in the state..."
Really, wow, I didn't know that. Maybe I'll move there.
"Monocultural", "white-bread"??? That is not the Orange County I know. It is extremely culturally diverse, and more "brown" than "white". To a certain extent you are correct about Irvine and Newport Beach, but those two cities are not Orange County. Newport is about as culturally diverse as Beverly Hills, and Irvine? Well Irvine has condo associations for single family detached homes, and suppresses individuality.
" Unitarian church "
aka Cornicopia church of anything goes
