I'm considering getting transfered from my job and moving to San Deigo or Los Angeles (where my company has offices.)
Any Freepers want to give a Jersey girl some advice?
I've never been to Ca. but I've had it with Jersey. I know there are at least five Conservatives in Califorina (thats three more than NJ)- help me out people!

What would it take to get you to stay in NJ? We are just a couple votes away from turning this state red again....

Don't let all these others scare you. I live in San Diego and know two words in Spanish (si $ no). I don't have any problems.
It is beautiful down here and plenty to do. Of course, they are right about the cost of housing!

Moving from one "People's Republic" to another makes no logical sense!!!!! Move South (East or West) and discover Freedom!

Los Angeles-San Bernardino for the southern part. Middle part was San Francisco-Vallejo.
Bah! Well, that explains it. With apologies to our Bay Area Freepers, the SF Bay Area is a cultural and political cesspool. You should have checked the Central Valley, especially areas in the Sierra foothills (still only a couple of hours from the ocean and the people are much more conservative). Although I love the ocean, I think I love the mountains more. One of the nice things about CA is that you're always in range of both.
If you've never seen it, you need to check out the election 2004 map by county for CA - the coastline from SF to LA is blue, and pretty much the rest fo the state is red.

San Diegans are very friendly and make those from out of state feel right at home. Not all of us.

Oh, btw, the price of gas here is less than $2.00/gal for regular. The price where?
Here in central CA, it's around $2.60. Premium's $2.90.

I did not know New Jersey had conservatives.
If all the conservatives leave then who will ever change the crummy out look leftists politicians leave on every ones faces.
As for liberals:
Please, Oh God make them stay in New Jersey or back East.
Problem with liberal Easterners moving out to places like New Mexico and Texas is they want to do just like the Mexican border jumpers.
Instead of adapting to the state and their surroundings they want to change it to what they had back East and that includes the same old leftists politics.
Another words they want to Floriduhnize their new surroundings.

Also, three hours or less from almost anywhere in the state will put you at world class Ski resorts in the winter, we also great spring time sking most years. This year it almost lasted to Memorial day.

I'd say San Diego. It is a little bit less of a shock than LA and not as crowded. The weather in Diego is amazing and LA is just a couple of hours up the freeway. The beaches there are great and so is the boardwalk in Pacific and Mission Beach. La Jolla up the road is very nice but very expensive. I lived down there for 3 years and enjoyed every day of it but maybe that is because I was going to San Diego State and every day was a party there! Good luck and don't worry there are a few Republicans out here!

Any Freepers want to give a Jersey girl some advice? DON'T ... you will take a serious effective paycut even if they give you a raise.

"If it weren't for the illegals we'd consider staying, we are seriously thinking of moving out of California - any suggestions. Everyone is invading our nice area."As a California girl who wound up in Texas, I can say that every large city here has big problems with mexican illegals & gangs. If you turn on the news at night it's worse than California.
There are a few nice places here, but given a choice I would probably go to Montana or Wyoming. That is, if you don't need income. :)

Whats it like now in Long Beach?
My folks owned a home on or close to the beach during the 40's but sold it for $7,900 in 1949.
What is the rent like?

Should be plenty of room there... sure are alot of Califonians moving to Arizona and after just getting back from Oregon, a bunch have moved up there too... California would not be my first choice to be around Conservatives!
Good Luck

See post #133... That explains it.
I live in Pismo Beach, and there's no $2.00 gas here.

Third generation, native San Diegan,... was HAPPY to leave my home town and do not care to ever return again to live there. Visit family, yes.
Better than LA, but even SD is costly and overcrowded. Of course, I'd take either CA city over anywhere in NJ.
