Dog Rips Child From Mother Arms
GLENDALE A Rottweiller ripped a toddler out of her mother's arms in Glendale, dragged the child up a driveway and mauled her to death, police said today.
The dog, which belongs to the victim's grandparents, pulled the child from her mother's arms about 7 last night in the 2300 block of Via Saldivar, said Sherri Servillo, a Glendale Police Department spokeswoman.
The infant was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Servillo said.
The woman was housesitting for the child's grandparents, Servillo said, adding authorities received a "hysterical 911 call" after the attack.
The dog is being held by Pasadena Animal Control, she said.
The woman holding the child was also holding a hose and watering a lawn when the 150-pound Rottweiler attacked, said Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz, calling it a "horrific and tragic incident" that has shocked crime scene investigators.
He said the dog dragged the infant several feet down the driveway before mauling her. The mother suffered no major injuries.
After being notified of the attack, Glendale police officers went to the place where the victim's father works in Pasadena and drove him to the hospital where his child was pronounced dead, police said.
yep.. those bad, bad owners. it's all their fault. training it's all training. more money on training.
we did plenty of training on our German Shepherd and our Anatolian Shepherd. man, were they obedient--- to us! But you couldn't trust them around kids..
People make other dog breeds mean also but they become shy, not aggressive. Pit Bulls and Rottweillers should be eradicated.
The mom could have been clubbing that bererk 150 pound rottie with a bat, and it would not have even noticed.
"Yes, that's right...it was my mother's poodle and it behaved just the way my mother wanted it to."
We have a chihuahua and WE can't get it to behave the way we want it too.
It barks at ANY SOUND it hears!
:)
Looks like they did an especially good breeding job on that little sweetie.
Yikes! ANOTHER note to self -- AVOID najida's bro. when he's been drinking!!
Okay, so he probably did deserve the bite.
Checked your profile -- you're a regular Dr. Dolittle!
We have chinchillas also!! (Eddie and his young son (no name yet) Sadly, Edna (the mother) died unexpectedly last week. A mystery!!!)
Those stats correspond directly with the rise of drug gangs and crack houses in the urban environment.
You use dog stories like idiotliberals smear gunowners.
That's what they all say, and the babies still get mauled by pits.
True, that.
I have friends who've owned four Rotts. One was a certified therapy dog who visited children's hospitals and nursing homes. Another has a nervous temper. At a public event, a stranger came up to this dog and put her face right up to it. The dog softly growled, but didn't attack.
My brother owned a small Bichon/Min. Schnauzer mix. He was put down at 2 years old for unprovoked biting of neighbors, friends and relatives (one relative required stitches and plastic surgery who the dog knew well).
The difference isn't the breed so much as the training and handling of the dogs. The Rott owners take theirs to obedience school every week. My brother didn't take his to any.
Did you really expect him to say "I had no control over my pet." or "The unexpected finally happened." or "We missed his breakfast feeding, he was doing what he naturally does when he gets hungry." or possibly "I guess he didn't like being tapped on the nose with a microphone."
???
And it's all because of the Bush tax cuts... :o)
" White-trash retards, sadistic hillbillies, and urban drug dealers LOVE these dogs"
This is true. I have had a rottweiler for 11 years now and (even though she is an almost perfect dog) would have to think twice before getting another one. Too many idiot owners means a lot of idiot breeders as well.
My mom spent thousands on it keeping it alive for years when it couldn't see and it pee'd all over her house constantly because it had some brain tumor and it's abdomen was all swollen out...she scooted it around in a baby stroller till it was nearly dead. Then she finally had it put to sleep and had it cremated and intends to have it buried with her.
You may be right. I have know Rotties that are just the nicest things on earth, pit bulls too, but those have been raised by loving owners who treat them gently and raise them to be "soft". On the other hand, I have seen some dogs being abused daily to make them "mean", how the owners want them. You can make any dog mean, but I believe you may be correct, that this tendency does vary by breed, and rotties, pitts, and some small dogs like maybe some Yorkies can get very mean and aggressive. The yorkies, being fairly small, aren't such a big deal, but a Rottie or a Pitt is another thing altogether..
I disagree with your statement after dealing with my friend's Three Rots after years. They are made to be killers not born that way.
"Maybe that's what the problem is - the canine unemployment rate."
Its Bush's fault.
LOL on the Australian Shepherd! I have an Australian Cattle dog and that's how she plays! She's blind now, but she goes after the ankles with nips! It drives our Golden NUTS! The golden hates it, and we can't let them play outside together because the Golden makes it well known if the Aussie nips her heels again, Aussie will die! :-D OTHERWISE they get along great!
Would you like a chinchilla (or two, or three)....
Mine are like rabbits....I finally had to put in a boys and girls dorm.
Wa'al, dahlin', you are welcome to refute it. Got any sources?
