Police say that on two occasions last May Geisel had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old former student -- on May 15 at her former residence in Latham and then again on May 28 inside the press box at the Christian Brothers Academy athletic field.

Women who do this, seduce and prey upon underage male teens, are often glamorized by the media (e.g. Mary Kay LeTourneau). Switch the roles and a man who preys upon young girls would properly produce outrage and be termed a sexual predator. At work yesterday a co-worker joked how come this never happened to him when he went to school. Would he joke about it if a male teacher had seduced his young daughter?

Moral turpetude is still a deleterious affect on minors and can lead impressionable youths to life-altering decisions that may not be in their best interest. These teachers are put in a position of trust and they betray us all when they pervert the morals of our kids.

Define "harm" adequately and the answer has to be YES.

The myth has long been dispelled that woman are any different then are men when it comes to their sex drives. We are just in a time that allows them to express them in the same way men do. Women have the advantage, or so they believe, that even if they are the aggressors they will not be looked at unfavorably or as unfavorably as would a man doing the same thing with his students. Most boys would do anything to keep the candy store open so I believe this is going on far more then we are hearing about.

Point well taken...there IS a double standard. And I'm guilty of that same double standard. I know that I am far more protective of my daughter than I am of my son, in many respects.

Pssstt... don't tell anybody, but there's a cultural double standard gender-wise on these age discrepencies. And it's not neccessarily a bad thing, for a lot of reasons.
