Muslims rally against Tancredo; call for his removal from office

DENVER — Local Muslims aren't satisfied with an apology from U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo about his remarks about bombing Islamic holy sites, Muslim officials said Saturday at a Denver rally.

"He needs to be removed from office," said Gerald Muhammad, a Nation of Islam minister from Denver. "We're not going to stop pushing until he is censored. We can't afford to have a man like that in office."

Muhammad and other Muslims spoke to about 200 people at the "With Justice Comes Peace" at Civic Center Park.

Tancredo has been under fire since July 15 when he told a radio host that the United States could "take out their holy sites," if Islamic terrorists attacked the country with nuclear bombs.

Some at the rally worry that Tancredo's remarks will cause people to be hostile towards Muslims and encourage prejudice.

"He should be bringing people together, not dividing them," Israr Haq, 42, of Northglenn. "The congressman went overboard."

The U.S. Rep. told a Muslim group Wednesday he was sorry if anyone was offended by what he said, but he stands by his comments, his spokesman Will Adams said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Republican Party said Friday the party backs Rep. Tom Tancredo, despite rifts the Colorado congressman has created with some Hispanic groups over his outspoken opposition to illegal immigration.

"The fact is, we're a big-tent party. I'm proud that we have debate in our party. I think debating the way to protect our borders and protect our national security is a good thing. I believe in a big public debate," Ken Mehlman said.

Why should he apologize? For saying what everyone thinks?

Umm, yeah, guys? Could you just stand there for a while? We'll get back to you in.. Umm... 2006.

Tancredo has been under fire since July 15 when he told a radio host that the United States could "take out their holy sites," if Islamic terrorists attacked the country with nuclear bombs.

The only apology he should make is for using the word could rather than should. A remark like this is not only spot on, but could cause an Islamofacist to think twice before setting off a nuclear device in this country.

Will someone please beam these fools up to their "mothership" already?

I must have missed the part where these Muslims demanded that their fellow terrorists stop killing people.

This was not an original idea of Tancredo's. Has U.S. threatened to vaporize Mecca?, WorldNetDaily January 7, 2005.

Whatever happened to "freedom of speech"? Apparently it's only a one-way street.

Muslim cry-babies setting the stage in Denver for some car bombings or other acts of Islamic "worship".

"With Justice Comes Peace" sounds like a threat to keep up the terrorism.

Of course, if Tancredo simply advocated beheading an innocent, or perhaps sending suicide bombs into Muslim trains, they would say that would be o.k. - well folks, if several U.S. cities are nuked by extremists, I think its time to call off the kumbaya tactics and propose meaningful response. None of these Muslim protest guys appear apologetic for the hypothetical loss of millions of American lives from potentially nuking US cities, they are just outraged by Tancredo's hypothetical response to the attacks by blasting artificially significant bricks and mortar. God save us all......

Two Middle East mothers are sitting in the cafe strip chatting over a pint of goat's milk. The older of the mothers pulls her bag out and starts flipping through pictures and they start reminiscing ...

"This is my oldest son Mohamed. He's 24 years old now".
"Yes, I remember him as a baby" says the other mother cheerfully.
"He's a martyr now though" mum confides.
"Oh so sad dear" says the other.
"And this is my second son Kali. He's 21"
"Oh, I remember him," says the other happily, "he had such curly hair when he was born".
"He's a martyr too " says mum quietly.
"Oh gracious me ...." says the other.
"And this is my third son. My baby. My beautiful Ahmed. He's 18", she whispers.
"Yes" says the friend enthusiastically, "I remember when he first started school".
"He's a martyr also," says mum, with tears in her eyes.
After a pause and a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looks wistfully at the photographs and says ...
"They blow up so fast, don't they?"

How strange... these same Muslims couldn't raise a hand to denounce the terror bombings. Perhaps not strange...
