I am so MAD, watching this piece of garbage on TV. Where can I write to the executives of this channel?

They are trying to make another Viet Nam out of this, and make our troops look like idiots.

God, I'm angry!!!!

Dang, they're even playing music that sounds like a bad imitation of Bob Dylan music.

I grew up next to Fort Sill, Oklahoma during the Viet Nam War, and in the late 1960s and early '70s, and this pisses me off.

Here are the advertisers I've identified so far -- 20th Century Fox
NFL
Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
America Online

They are going to here from me.

Apparently this piece of propaganda bullshit is a series,so they are going to play this once a week.

Hey, here's a cool war story...happened about three days ago...

Our I.T. guy at work (he's my guitar player and a former squid) was working on my computer in the office I share with three other guys....

His son calls him on his cell phone to B.S....

Everyone in the office thinks that this cool, because his son is a Marine in Afghanistan...

Well, after about five minutes, he hangs up...

We say, "Hey, how's you're kid doing?"

He says, "He's good...but he had to go..." HE WAS USING A BILLY CLUB TO SMASH SOME ASSHATS WHO WERE TRYING TO BUST THROUGH THE GATE OF THE AIR BASE!!!!

HE THOUGHT THAT THERE MAY BE A POINT WHERE HE WOULD HAVE TO USE BOTH ARMS, SO HE TOLD HIS DAD HE LOVED HIM, HE'D CALL BACK, BUT HAD TO GO FOR NOW!!!

Before the spelling police (english teachers on FR) respond, I meant "they are going to hear from me."

My question is, would anyone want to go into battle with the two women that were depicted in that show - they couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag. How did they get through boot camp? lol

You know, you might need to get a life if that makes you mad.

I don't watch TV, except for Fox News (and occasionally CNN and MSNBC to get their slant on the news). The rest of the time I am either working, online reading FR posts, or listening for the two (I have identified two)great barren owls outside in the woods.

I also can tomatoes and green beans, and am a fanatic about planting flowers. I love flowers and feed all kinds of birds.

I have friends who can't miss the Oscars, watch American Idol and Jerry Springer faithfully, and who don't produce a DAMN thing.

I keep a faithful eye out for what I consider traitors to this country, and make it a point to try to educate these folks in any way I can. I recently talked a guy into quiting sending his money to PETA.

But this kind of propaganda bullshit on this show will influence a lot of people who are too shallow to think.

I have a daughter who was injured in a grenade attack in Iraq last year. A few weeks before that, she was part of an MP escort for a supply convoy. A fuel truck got hit and an MP Hummer was engulfed by the burning fuel. She and other soldiers braved enemy fire to get to it. She dragged one of the injured MPs to cover, went back and provided cover fire for the soldiers getting the other MP to safety. She suffered burns to her face and hands reaching into a flaming vehicle to rescue these men.

Needless to say, she was very disappointed by the portrayal of our women soldiers by this show.

I served in the Army six years, most of it with 3rd Ranger Battalion. I kept asking myself, "What the hell Army is this supposed to be?" This show could not have been any worse or left leaning if it had been written by Howard Dean and the DNC.

With Howard Dean the dems have formally graduated from "disarray" to "debacle", with "irretrievable disaster" just around the corner.

The thread I saw (yesterday?) reported this exact thing, that the military was portrayed as unprofessional and/or over-emotional at best. I thought about watching it until I read that thread that reported some of our military who previewed it were disgusted by it.

You know Bochco is full of it when he claimed the show would be apolitical.

What can possibly be apolitical about a war. It's as political as you can get.

We remove one of the most repressive regimes on the planet and are attempting to create a fledgling democracy. If that isn't political I don't know what is.

I watched a little of it. Seems they used every hackneyed cliche from every Vietnam movie ever made.

What did you think it was gonna be...

They have been excoriating Vietnam vets for over 30yrs

They are gonna suddenly change for Iraq?

It will always be a venue for their social propaganda

I dont even have to watch the show to know who the heroes will be and who the villains will be

Ben there done that...

is it not somewhat satisfying to see ragheads shouting
Alla Fubar getting mowed down right and left?
How about the scene where the 40mm hit the enemy square
and leaves his lower half walkin?
The black soldier who is puttin them down with single clean shots?
All I can say is "Get some!"

I am a woman who happens to believe women don't belong in combat -- women are physically weaker and more emotional, therefore more irrational, than men.

However, I feel women can offer a lot in non-combative support. My sister-in-law was an Army nurse during WW II and women make great spies.

However, we can be bad asses if we are pushed into a corner. I had -- not by choice -- to kick someone's ass a few days ago, and the old gal's lucky I didn't hurt her really bad. I also had to put her husband in jail. Her husband is my brother and a drug-crazed idiot. She is now one scared drug-crazed idiot who just got a taste of why she don't want to mess with me.

I'm 50 years old and abhor violence. My Mama taught me ladies don't fight, but don't EVER run from one. But when someone threatens me or mine, I'm mean as shit. When the survival mode kicks in, watch out.

Anyway I have been in a foul mood for days over that, and then this movie REALLY pissed me off.

I guess I need to chill out and go fishing. Fishing always puts me back into a good mood.

However, while I'm really in bad mood, I plan to let the producers of that crappy TV show know how I feel. I'll write a letter. I have letters from Fred Thompson (ex-senator from Tennessee) responding to letters I sent him about Bill Clinton's impeachment, and from Bill Jenkins responding to my letters about the United Nations.

We also need to hit the advertisers. And the great thing about FR is that before this thread ends, someone will have a list of them complete with contact info.

Just watched it, the military portrayal did not seem as unprofessional as this thread seems to indicate. They were portrayed as new to the theater, and it seemed that the training they had had was not up to the task. I expect to see them grow and mature and toughen as the weeks go by. The stuff about others calling the shots from afar seemed to match up. The "incident" about returning fire seemed overdone, of course returning fire was the correct thing to do. Yes, the women were not portrayed well, I hope some growth occurrs there or else the show is a poster for "no women in combat" (which I happen to agree with.)

The business about negotiation is probably true to, as is the betrayal, but I had no sympathy for the insurgent leader, he seemed to represent the radical Islamic quite well. I will watch a few more shows, I would say the guys were involved in more fire fights then average, but thats par for hollywood, and going for a beer run? Please tell me that was an unnecessary risk.
