For the first time in 46 years there was not going to be an outside mass rally to celebrate the 26 of July, the date in 1953 when Castro and a group of his followers attacked the Moncada barracks in Santiago de Cuba. And now the rumors have been officially confirmed. It seems that Castro is afraid to hold a mass rally under the present conditions in the island, where there have been many protests taking place during the last few days. He feels more secure inside a theatre, where no one can get in without an official invitation.
Record heat and power cuts of 12 hours or more a day led to scattered protests, vandalism and rare anti-Castro graffiti this summer, veteran human rights activist Elizardo Sanchez said. Authorities have responded by mobilising rapid deployment brigades of militant supporters to disperse pockets of protest with batons, he and other dissidents said. "I have not seen such widespread discontent in four decades," said Mr Sanchez, head of the Cuban Commission for Human Rights.

Thank you for the photo links--now we know what Hell really is. I am forwarding these to our family doctor to show him what free health care in Cuba looks like.
Amazing it it not, especially with all the lies the democrat media has told us over the years.
It's fun to think about. Cuba rightfully ought to be an absolute paradise. The fact that it's an olive-drab hellhole says a lot about communism.
The Seattle times confirms this

Castro mocked the protesters in his most recent lunatic tirade.

Castro: Power Problems Being Resolved

HAVANA (AP) - President Fidel Castro said Tuesday his government was revolutionizing Cuba's aging electrical system, asking a nation weary of recent breakdowns to be patient while his government works to fix the problems.
Summer heat in the 90s and hours-long blackouts that stop fans and water pumps and cause refrigerated food to spoil have increasingly irritated Cubans and led to reports of small, sporadic protests and scattered anti-government graffiti. While occasional blackouts are common every summer, Cubans say these are the most frequent and longest of recent years.
``We will overcome. Have a little bit of faith,'' the Cuban leader said in an address of more than two hours marking the 25th anniversary of his revolution. It celebrated his 1953 attack on a military barracks, but he did not come to power for another 5 years on Jan. 1, 1959.
I know this isn't Iran, but it sure is interesting.
I see the AP didn't disappoint; they waited for Castro's spin.
Won't matter too much how he dies its what will happen to him when he goes to his "just deserts".
Thank you for the link. I learned a lot that I did not know (of course). It would seem that Cuba has been a well kept secret from the average American. I am horrified at the pictures, and I cried when I read about the woman who saw the pictures of her grandfather being shot by Castro's thugs. How awful for her.
They realize Cuba's downfall was their benefit. I suspect they're probably a little wary of a Havana comeback. I did hear while I was down there that Cuba was having alot of blackouts but nothing about any political unrest.
>$35B of foreign debt. The country's entire GDP is <$34B. Wow!
In comparison, our foreign debt is about 30% of GDP.
There are plenty of travelers for everyone. We have cheaper destinations to our east and west yet people still come. We have a very large Cuban population in Puerto Rico. We know what they have gone through and wish those that stayed behind nothing but peace and freedom.
Any updates on this?
Thanx for the photos of progressive tolerance.
Woo hoo! Great news!
BTTT for later showing to my Cuban wife and in-laws
