In a bid to burnish her Commander-in-Chief credentials, 2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is expected to call for an expansion of the armed forces by 80,000 troops during her speech to the Democratic Leadership Council later today.
But Mrs. Clinton's support for a larger military doesn't jibe with her call just last month to make it tougher for military recruiters to do their job - along with her accusation that the Pentagon is targeting ethnic minorities to meet recruitment goals.
In a June 24 letter to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Hillary and six other Democrats questioned whether military recruiters were engaged in racial profiling by collecting personal data on high school students.
"We fail to see a legitimate need for the creation of a database containing such personal information and are concerned that it may be an inappropriate effort to profile students based on ethnicity and other personal factors," she complained.
In a post to her official Senate web site that same day, Mrs. Clinton charged that recruiters were "infringing on the privacy of high school students" by using a market research firm to find out if they might be good candidates for a military career. In what sounded like a blast at the Armed Forces, the top Democrat declared, "It is critical that we do everything we can to make sure that our most sensitive personal information stays out of the wrong hands."
The Pentagon - "the wrong hands"?
Mrs. Clinton insisted that recruiters should be denied access to Social Security numbers, ethnicities, birth dates, class schedules and grade point averages - the kind of information that might help the military identify those most likely to want to serve their country.
The only possible use of this person would be as a weather vane. She always heads where things are blowing (a couple of meanings here).
And she contrasts this statement with her involvement in gathering FBI files on potential enemies how?
I think I said that earlier on another thread... LOL!
Will someone tell this stupid b*tch that our military is also Profiling in Iraq and Afganistan and it is apparently working,
(much to her consternation>
LOL Great minds think alike!
Somebody tell Hillary that there are a lot of things worse than being politically incorrect. Trying to stay alive, for instance.
I may have left out certifiably though... LOL!
