Hillary: Bush Court Picks are Anti-Civil Rights
NewsMax.com ^ | July 22, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is firing up the troops for the coming battle over the Supreme Court - taping a message for her supporters accusing President Bush of appointing judges who want undo the accomplishments of the civil rights movement.

In a "conversation" with Georgia Rep. John Lewis - videotaped shortly before Sandra Day O'Connor announced her retirement and posted to Clinton's web site in the last few days - the top Democrat hails the Warren court's landmark Brown vs Board of Education school desegregation decision.

Then Hillary warns darkly: "What we are experiencing today is a real movement to turn the clock back on the rights of Americans."

"Unfortunately, the people who are being appointed to the courts all too often have a pre-existing idea of what they're going to decide," she complains.

After praising the Warren Court, Clinton notes: "This year we have another very important anniversary. It's the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act."

At that point Rep. Lewis jumps in:

"That was a time when you had bold leadership from a president," he lamented. "But today there's a mindset to take us back - undo the New Deal, undo the Great Society, undo a lot of the things that your husband stood for and was able to accomplish."

Hillary assured Lewis there was no real cause for worry, saying, "I have a lot of faith in the American people and I believe we've come too far to turn back now."

She then tells supporters to stay tuned: "If there is an opening on the Supreme Court this summer, as there well might be, I hope that every American follows this debate."

Does anyone in the Republican leadership think it would be interesting to dispel the myth that the majority of Republicans were opposed to Civil Rights legislation in the 60's?

More Republicans than Democrats voted FOR the Civil Rights Act.

The Republican PR machine needs to do a better job and they should start making commercials about this matter, to counter Hitlery's outrageous lies.

Of course the courts turn back the rights of ALL Americans when they say municipalities can take our property.

As far as civil rights go, HRC and her ilk believe that treating ALL Americans the same and giving everyone equal rights and equal protection is racist and bigoted. Only by giving special rights to certain groups is considered to be fair by these warped minds.

What was it, exactly, that Bubba stood for and was able to accomplish? I forget...

It annoys me that the Democrats forever try to cover over their history. The Democratic Party is the slavery party, the Jim Crow party, the party of lynchings, firehoses, race repression and race obsession.

The Republican Party is what it has always been, the party of color-blind citizenship. We have not changed, we are right where we have always been.

The Democrats have a lot to answer for, and they mostly answer for it by re-writing history. If I had their history, I'd do the same thing.

"Caught Hill's first presidential campaign commercial on Brit Hume last night. A treat, Hill in fishnet tights."

That was pretty funny! It looked like Brit wanted to laugh out loud, but was trying to hold back (my guess was so he wouldn't be accused of being unfair and unbalanced by the Dims - which he probably already has been anyway).

"'Unfortunately, the people who are being appointed to the courts all too often have a pre-existing idea of what they're going to decide,' she complains." If they are scholars of the Founders' Constitution, why wouldn't they, one might ask.

Clinton's remark exposes the illogical, tyrannical, and hypocritical mindset of Hillary and her Far Left associates. Such a blunt admission relies on what they believe to be the ignorance of citizens, else why would she risk such exposure of the Far Left's agenda?

If her remark is intended to discredit the current President's potential choice of nominee, then is she saying that the two appointees of her husband had no such 'pre-existing idea' on key issues?

Or, is it more likely she is saying, "the people who are being appointed to the courts all too often have a pre-existing idea of what they're going to decide that differs with what I and my ideologues demand!"????

In other words, the Far Left has set up a litmus test that totally excludes, censors, and bans from consideration for the Court any person whose judicial decisions on certain specified issues chosen by the Far Left might be perceived to differ from the agenda they, not the Founders' Constitution, have pursued and are intent upon imposing, regardless of its sound basis in the Constitution's principles.

Perhaps the Senator never quite understood the thrust of the Founders' total ban of government's power to intrude upon the rights of conscience of each citizen, including those in positions of executive, judicial, or legislative power in the government!

More likely, however, it is that having read Jefferson and Madison and others, Senator Clinton and her ilk have chosen to part ways with the Framers of the Declaration of Independence/Constitution's foundations in Creator-endowed, unalienable rights in order to impose another idea that relies on the judiciary's "creation" of government-granted (therefore, alienable) "rights."

The history of civilization demonstrates that the latter is a counterfeit idea that leads only to domination and power for the political elite, and oppression and tyranny for the people!

NOTE: Hillary is referring to the CIVIL RIGHTS of the TERRORISTS -- she is complaining about the treatment of the people who would incinerate Americans should be given lavish and plush prison cells...

Also, the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. would not agree with Hillary Clinton. John Lewis is the Democrat Party boy to help bail the party out of jams...

After praising the Warren Court, Clinton notes: "This year we have another very important anniversary. It's the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act."

How does this woman expect anyone to take her seriously with this kind of cheap grandstanding?

She ought to begin wearing a white top hat, tails, and cane -- accompanied by a midget and elephant -- ALL the time.
