Anybody else watching the Senate on CSPAN 2? Reid just had his "Carl Rove' amendment to the Homeland Security funding bill read and spoke for about five minutes bashing Rove and Bush.
THEN, the clerk read an amendment proposed by Bill Frist that any office holder who discloses classified FBI information on the Senate floor and uses it to denigrate the U.S. military should have HIS security clearence removed. DURBIN alert!
Wow! Great stuff. Turn on CSPAN 2 immediately!

How about an amendment that if an employee or former employee of the disgraced ex-president steals documents, regardless of his excuses, he goes to jail without a trial.

I think the key to Roberts is that Reid pretends to be folksy and plain-spoken, while Roberts IS. He comes off as very sincere.

As Senator Pat Roberts has just pointed out on the floor, Senators and Representatives don't get "security clearances" as such. Instead, by reason of their elections they are "deemed" to be qualified for clearance.
There are, however, instances of consequences of Congressmen suffering because of their loose lips. Senator Pat ("Leaky") Leahy was bounced off the Intelligence Committee for exactly such an error. Senator John ("Frenchy") Kerry did NOT suffer any such consequence when he did that recently.
