32% of births in N.J. are to immigrant moms

Nearly one-third of all births in New Jersey in 2002 were to immigrant mothers, the most ever, according to a new study that examines how the massive influx of immigrants is transforming communities and posing new challenges for the nation's education and health care systems.

"We've never been here before," said Steve Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington, D.C., think tank that conducted the study. "We're headed into uncharted territory in terms of the size of the second generation."

In New Jersey, immigrants make up 18 percent of the total population and accounted for 31.9 percent of all births in 2002, the study found. By comparison, just 9.6 percent of babies were born to foreign-born mothers in 1970.

Jews came to this country in smaller numbers and at a time when the natives were reproducing. We also forced them to learn English.

I support President Bush's guest worker program. My interest is the economy, not immigrants. I have no dog in the immigrant laws fights and don't know much about them. My folks are all citizens of many generations.

Yes, and many Jews came into the country and their sons were drafted into the military, which is the best "assimilation" device that we have ever known. Regardless of other pro or con opinions, the draft certainly gave most young men at least one common experience. It also moved them out of their environs.

I have nothing against a draft for immigrants wishing to become Americans.

"That is a misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment. "

So was Roe v Wade but there are forty million aborted Americans who would have told you that doesn't make any difference.

When a person swears to uphold the Constitution he can't cross his fingers and add to himself "as I interpret the Constitution."

Wrong. It is the Supreme Court that willfully misinterpretted the Constitution in both cases.
An unConstitutional decision is inherently void.

Immigrants, both legal and illegal, can state on their welfare application forms that they are American citizens. Do you honestly think that the busy personnel at the welfare office are going to take the time to verify this? Even if they wanted to, how could they verify that welfare applicants are American citizens?
Citizenship is overrated. I mean, there isn't just a lot left that a non-citizen can't do. Welfare benefits, drivers licenses, moter voter ... and, thanks to the fact that the border is standing wide open, only a fool would waste his time and money going through the "legal" way.

Next time I go down to the veterans cemetary, I'm going to have to tell them what they all died for is eroding little by little, one illegal immigrant at a time. Such an appalling waste of life.

Now where is my Spanish for Dummies book ....

Lol, "fall off my chair"?? Heck, I'm still buffing the seat...

Now ahem...Please approach the bench, Trish...

(Pssst) He/she/it can pass around all the three-dollar bills he/she/it sees fit -- it's still worthless currency.

Reinquists's "heir apparent" has spoken. (Btw, still basking in the "Sir, Your Honorable Chief Justice" :-)

According to what you just said, Bush is breaking his oath of office "to uphold the Constitution" because he is not enforcing illegal immigration.

From your finger tips to my computer screen you said: "He can't cross his fingers and add to himself "as I interpret the Constitution."

Now that you have FINALLY admitted that illegal immigration is ILLEGAL, What do you think Bush's punishment should be?

Dont you know that that just means he thinks any and all non-terrorists that want to come should be able to legally without a long waiting period? It may be technically anti-illegal immigration but its not what most people would define it as. Yeah, and dont bother asking about how many "guest workers" would ever leave. Thats a painful question for the other side.

We had a future before the massive immigration. I am getting tired of your posts claiming we are anti-immigrant. This is the same type of argument that the Democrats throw at conservatives.

To set the record straight, we are against ILLEGAL immigration, which will eventually affect us all in ways you apparently can't seem to get a grasp of.

Our future needs could have been met with selective legal immigration.

Being overrun with illegals from the third-world, offers us absolutely no future.
