Nearly one-third of all births in New Jersey in 2002 were to immigrant mothers, the most ever, according to a new study that examines how the massive influx of immigrants is transforming communities and posing new challenges for the nation's education and health care systems.
"We've never been here before," said Steve Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington, D.C., think tank that conducted the study. "We're headed into uncharted territory in terms of the size of the second generation."
In New Jersey, immigrants make up 18 percent of the total population and accounted for 31.9 percent of all births in 2002, the study found. By comparison, just 9.6 percent of babies were born to foreign-born mothers in 1970.

I live in East Windsor and we are very heavily Hispanic and our scores have gone down!! The Indians have bought the expensive homes, but they are way outnumbered by the Ecuadorians and Dominicans and Guatemalans, etc. Hightstown is turning very Hispanic.

Some ethnic groups do very well academically on average; some ethnic groups do dismally on average. Without pinning the rose, America is getting heavy immigration from ethnic groups that do not do well.

These children are the future of America. They are helping to replace some of the forty million Americans who have been aborted since Roe V. Wade. They will be funding your Social Security, fighting your wars to keep you free, and driving the economic engine that will provide jobs for your children and grandchildren. And by the end of the century, we'll have a billion people here. With your logic, we should be doing really good economically by then.
I personally am thankful I won't be here to see America in that state.

I thought of a question I wanted to ask you today, I hope you do answer it.
What is your position on unlimited immigration? Do you think there should be any caps? Do you believe we should allow anyone who wants to come here to come? At what point (if any) should we stop?
It would help me alot if I understood what your position really is.

Which law are you talking about. Federal law prohibits even legal immigrants from receiving any type welfare until they've been here for five years except WIC.Immigrants, both legal and illegal, can state on their welfare application forms that they are American citizens. Do you honestly think that the busy personnel at the welfare office are going to take the time to verify this? Even if they wanted to, how could they verify that welfare applicants are American citizens?

1970 was before killing babies was made legal.

Well naturally. There are a lot of liberal women in New Jersey, and who would want to reproduce with them?
(No offense to the conservative New Jersey ladies)

Believe it or not, people do feel it necessary to comment on the childless status of couples they don't know, not realizing that for some it's not a choice we made, it's just the way it worked out.
You're not alone in this - even with one child, I find a lot of people feel the need to know why we had just one. I reply that we calculated we could only afford one college education. But I think I should come up with a detailed answer involving my reproductive organs, just for the people who are just plain nosy and rude! That would stop them in their tracks.

This is a very understated fact. I think people are afraid to sound racist by bringing it up because the libs will pounce. But it's true that some cultures value an education more than others. Growing up in El Paso, the Mexican friends I had were expected to go into the same business as their dad, even if they were capable of more. On the other hand, looking at schools with a high number of Asian immigrants that don't speak English as a first language, it is impressive how well they can do academically. So, it CAN be done!

The people who SUPPORT allowing Illegal immigrant children to attend school are ignorant of why we even have public schools to begin with.

"But children born here are not immigrants, they are American citizens and the future of our nation depends upon them." What's your nation, Aztlan?
To: bayourod
Do you support the U.S. Constitution? All people born in America are American citizens and enjoy the same right and privileges as all other citizens.
That is a misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment.
