US President George Bush is attending the G8 Summit at Gleneagles, Scotland, which unfortunately was disturbed today due to the terrorist attack in London. British PM Tony Blair left Gleneagles to return to London briefly to assess the situation though returned to the summit later in the evening.
The summit will continue tomorrow but it is expected to end probably a little earlier than originally intended to allow Tony Blair to return to London tomorrow afternoon
Vice President Dick Cheney will undergo a routine exam Friday to check the condition of a high-tech pacemaker that was placed in his chest in June 2001.
Cheney spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride said the tests at George Washington University Medical Center would include a physical exam, an electrocardiogram, an echocardiogram and a stress test. The vice president planned to be back at work later in the day, she said.
"It's a routine physical," she said. She said the vice president also would have a colonoscopy later this month.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice signed the book of condolences at the British Embassy in Washington she also met with the British Ambassador to the U.S. David Manning

He has been a great friend to President Bush and has stood firm in the face of so much criticism at home! Maybe his fellow Brits will have more respect for him after what happened. They really need this strong leader now!

I hope they do, too. Can you imagine what it would have been like if Gore had been president at 911? He'd still be under his table! Blair, like Bush, will be revered for a while, in all likelihood, but then it will wear off--as it did for our dear President.

I sure wish it would be in this time (as well as the next) so we could gloat a bit--a lot! Glad your daughter's okay. It's getting pretty scary sending kids overseas these days.

Thanks, Mary. My kids love to travel and aren't afraid of anything, so I spend a LOT of quality time in prayer for them!
As for the vengeance...........I share your desire for retribution for their sins (and crimes) in this world. It's not easy to love your enemies..........and they ARE enemies..........so I really have to be in prayer about that too........sigh...........
(I'd love to see them in prison orange, or maybe in stocks in the village square being pelted with slightly rotted tomatoes. ;)

I like your last suggestion. Really old, rotten tomatoes--yum. They'd love that.
How is your son doing? Is he back from Iraq yet?

Yes. He's been back for a year now.
As a matter of fact, he just got married, and is doing great. Still in the Reserves and doing some advanced training this summer.

Especially on a day like yesterday, I'm glad someone like Laura was able to be with QEII.

I would imagine that like many people he probably cannot get his wedding ring off I know when my mum had rheumatism a few years back and even before it affected that particular finger she could not get the ring off and was advised in case it spread to that finger to have it cut off.
I expect the same goes for the VP after 27 and nearly 41 years (if it is the same ring) I would imagine both of them would have great difficulties in getting the ring off. I know many people before they play sport or had an op have had to have sticking plaster put round the ring.
It is an interesting thing wedding rings for males many I know in my dad's age group and slightly younger would never wear one yet 10 or 15 years younger and it is considered the norm. I think it may well be the same in the US as both Bush and Cheney wear one yet Rumsfeld does not.

He's here to cause trouble. He does it from time to time. Makes him feel important. He can't seem to see he is just making an ass of himself. I just wish he had not on the day London was bombed call me paranoid or what but I suspect that he follows the dose looking for an opportunity to disrupt and knew perfectly well that I was posting it today and to have a go at me would cause people who normally would ignore him to respond as they would feel that it was out of order to bait me after the UK bombing.

Thank you and thank you all including those I have forgotten to thank I cannot tell you all how wonderful it has been to hear all the messages of support for my country.
I am fortunate it has not affected me or my own but it has my country and that hurts.
In a way I am not shocked or surprised I was expecting it sooner or later in fact sooner than this and I was expecting it to be the tube they attacked. There are many occasional visitors to London that no longer take the tube they either walk or go by taxi.
Dad has not used the tube really since 9/11 because with his health problems he could not risk being caught in such an incident. I think the key is here do not let the terrorists affect your daily life but if like dad with his health issues do not take stupid risks.

To say dad has not used them much since 9/11 sounds as if we only thought of attack after that date which is not true in fact dad had be wary of them for a few years before both from IRA and from other world wide terrorist groups. London like most capital cities is a prime target and often soft target because to have too much security stops it functioning.
I do sincerely believe that London though like your ex mayor of NYC said yesterday was prepared and the people and emergency services acted quickly and responsibly. I saw him on UK TV and he was visibly impressed by what he saw.
